If you like fishing you cannot fail to enjoy this book. The life story of not only one of the most talented anglers, if not the best, but the other side of the man. A hard working, generous, knowledgable, humorous and passionate about the English countryside and all that is in it. A book that is an easy read, highly enjoyable and well illustrated mapping his life and adventures across the world with his fishing rod.Covering his life from a teenager who went poaching in his local park to the adventurer fishing in the West Indies. Stories of how his fishing bait escaped in to the hairdressers next door, working on a cruise ship, scuba diving with a difference, constructing his own piece of heaven in his lakes and introducing the reader to many of his friends and family via the numerous stories that forged his life.If you are a parent looking for a role model, then look no further. I can strongly recommend John Wilson's book.

I bought this book for my boyfriend for Christmas as he is a keen angler and a fan of John Wilson, he absolutely loved it and said it was the best present he had ever received!
The book is very good quality and has some lovely pictures of John and his life along with some of his own little fun drawings to help tell his story. Although not an angler myself I have also enjoyed reading some parts of the book as i find it interesting to read about someone that has made a success of their life off of their own back and John certainly has done that! John has a really interesting story to tell and this book will have you riveted and you don't have to be an angler for John to have you hooked!

The one thing I was amazed at reading this book was how good a life the guy had.
At a tender young age he boarded a cruise ship and went around nailing every chick in sight. I really didn't expect this old gent to be such a slag. He's says every class of female passenger from the top decks to the lower decks 'passed through old Wilson's hands'. He had some scams going as well making money on the side, and still found time to fish for big game from the cruise ship whilst it was haboured in port at tropical locations all over the world. He is unexpectedly very much a big game fisherman by trade.
The rest of the book relates his mainly world wide fishing expeditions, his lake building skills and his television shows. The guy travels to a different country to fish almost every week. B*stard.
