Product Description

Product Description

Since Queen Elizabeth II succeeded to the throne sixty years ago Britain has seen huge social, political and economic change. As her people have celebrated the highs and mourned the lows, she has remained a constant and stable figure at the head of the world's most famous Royal Family. Through 12 Prime Ministers, four recessions, wars and a technological revolution, the Queen's determination to carry out her duties and to connect with the public has not faltered. Sixty Glorious Years celebrates her extraordinary ability to have secured a place in the hearts of generations of Britons as the country moves further into the 21st Century. With rarely seen pictures, this book offers an unparalleled look at the life and work of the woman who looks set to become Britain's longest surviving sovereign.

Really enjoyed this book. Bought it as a present for my mum but having a flick through before sending it got really absorbed and ended up looking through the whole thing myself.
One of the best things about the book is the amount of great photos of the Queen's life that the author has unearthed.
The book is full of great anecdotes to go with the pictures, but the book doesn't get too bogged down in heavy political history so is a fun read.
Would definitely recommend as a gift for Royal fans or jubilee souvenir.

This is a real tribute oozing with royal detail, and I can't say I read much of it but my gran was largely delighted. She did say that the woman who wrote it got a few things wrong, so one star off. Otherwise, I can say the quality & presentation are good.

Doing my bit for young Brits, two new writers to watch have produced The Faceless, a chilling new horror story, and Sherlock Holmes and the Flying Zombie Death Monkeys which is a very funny spoof involving a good deal of great historical observations. Buy British!
