Book Description

If the last thirty years of working in the world of quality and process improvement have taught me one thing it is that to really understand a topic you need a good example and most importantly that example needs to apply to something you are familiar with. If you cannot relate to the example then it is just a widget, and I have never met anyone that works with widgets.
This e-book is the first in a series of books that are intended to walk the reader through the application of the six sigma tools in a way they can understand the real intent of the tool. So many classes teach the tools, and fill the student’s tool box with a jumbled mess of tools they will never use covering the useful tools they really need to understand. The purpose of this text is not to provide technical expertise in the subject of the process discussed, Pizza making in this example, but to demonstrate how to select and apply process improvement tools to better understand and improve process performance. This book will discuss the six sigma methodology as it applies to a Pizza shop owner who suspects her sales are declining due to customers that are becoming dissatisfied with her pizza process.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a Six Sigma book you can understand 25 Jan. 2014
By Kevin Waddell - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Although I have been a quality professional for 30 years, I was impressed by how this book provided a very easy way to understand the six sigma methodology and how it can be applied to anything that revolves around a process. This book would be fantastic for those businesses or operations who do not have the luxury of a dedicated quality department or even someone who has a quality background, but want to be able to improve whatever processes that are critical to maintaining customer satisfaction. As one who has used Minitab for sometime as a result of previous training sessions with Mr. Windsor, I cannot emphasis enough of how tremendous and easy to use this software is. So the combination of an easy to use six sigma methodology in this book and the Minitab software package, anyone can improve their processes and ultimately their profitably and bottom line.

This is a 5 star guide for anyone needing help in mastering the subject and a considerable training resource. I am so thankful for this book as it has helped me to relate to and understand the Six Sigma process. This book was written so you can easily comprehend the process and relate from a real world perspective. It is written in plain, understandable language and does not read like a standard textbook. It is well worth the purchase for anyone involved with Six Sigma.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book...less than Six Sigma editing 12 Sept. 2014

Quick read. I finished it in one evening. It certainly made the concepts easy to grasp with the pizza shop example, that we all can relate to, especially for me, since I worked most my life in the hospitality business.

It is ironic that a book teaching the concepts of Six Sigma had so many grammatical errors. I counted at least six errors in grammar, spelling, or misuse of a word, in this short book. Editing of this book is definitely not up to Six Sigma standards.
