Considering it's brevity, this ep packs a lot of punch; of course, punch is what the Men do. The Men They Couldn't Hang arose out of the same ashes as the Pogues, and with the same influences, punk, folk and traditional Celtic music. The Men are more melodic and less punk than McGowen's band, sounding much like early Levelers or New Model Army. This is not their best album by any means, but any album by the band is worth owning. Their excellent songs and insightful lyrics are like food to the starving in this world of Hip Hop poseurs and corporate cute boys. All the tracks on BIG SIX PACK are excellent, except `Henry Kinckle', which is cute, but not exactly a must have. All in all worth your time, seek out SILVERTOWN or DOMINO CLUB, both of which are A+ albums. A
