Every single informative chapter of this teenage bible is comprehensive and painfully honest. I emphasise the word painful because it is an appropriate term to associate with adolescence.
The controversy surrounding this book seems a bit ill informed, all of the topics covered are highly relevant and NOTHING in this book would come as a shock to your average teenager. Parents would do themselves a few favours reading this if they hold out any hope of relating to their teenage offspring.
The writing is very personal and this evident in every sentence. Thanks to Jessica Howie for providing a piece that doesn't patronize and isn't afraid to address bluntly issues teenagers discuss in school canteens and Justin Timberlake clad bedrooms everywhere.
Believe the hype, this book tells it how it is and it makes a nice change not to be written by a middle aged woman with a variety of questionable qualifications, none of which make them an expert on young people.
