This film is adapted from a book which was reccommended to me by a friend. I was a bit apprehensive at first most likely due to the title. But, when I finally started to read it I was blown away. It is amazing. As soon as I had finished I read the two sequels and carried on being amazed! I then saw some adverts for the film and rushed straight to the cinema to see it. I am someone who has always believed a book will be better than a film but I stand corrected. This film is definatley the best I have ever seen and touched me in a way that none other has.

The story follows four girls summer, Tibby (the rebel), Bridget (wild and sporty), Lena (shy and beautiful), and Carmen ( the writer)They had never been apart all their lives they had been best friends, until this summer. They will all be going away to different places. Bridget, to a soccer camp, Lena to Greece, Carmen to see her Dad and Tibby reluctantly staying at home working in Wallmans ( a supermarket). Before they go away they all go shopping together and in a small thrift store they find an ordinary pair of jeans. These jeans fit all of them perfectly even though they are all different heights and shapes.

They take this to be a sign and decide that while they are away they will all share these jeans and send them fromone girl to the other while they are away. I do have to emphasis that the story is not about the jeans, it is about the things that to happen to these girls in their first summer apart and the touching realisation that true friends will never be apart. Buy this film it will change your views on film forever.

Ok, I know this is a film that is targeted towards teen girls, and not really adults so much, but I loved this film! I was in my local video rental store one afternoon looking for something to rent and watch in the evening, and I saw the box for this film, and the rather odd title got my attention.

Well, I picked it up and read the back cover. It didn't really sound like the sort of film I would like, but something inside of me kept saying "rent it, rent it!" Well I did, and my partner was surprised when I brought it home. We watched it that night, and we both really enjoyed it.

This is the story of how four best friends find a pair of jeans that somehow fits them all perfectly, and decide to share them, each one having the jeans for a week, and then posting them on to the next whilst they spend their summer away from each other. Whilst apart they experience both good and bad times. When the girls all meet up again after the summer break, they have all changed in their attitudes towards everything in life. Most especially Tibby, who before the break was very much a rebel, and rather negative in her opinions about things. After the death of her little friend Bailey (who had Leukemia) she starts to show a much more caring and loving side.

Carmen makes peace with her Father, Lena breaks the long running feud between the Kaligaris and the Dounas families, and Bridget falls in love with her Soccer coach "Eric Richman".

The film is backed by a great musical score that sounds very enchanting at times, and it also has a totally awesum soundtrack (see my review for the CD on Amazon.com as the CD is only available currently in the USA). I bought the soundtrack CD and play it all the time now!

This is a film up there now in my top 10 fave films. I have reccommended this film to loads of people (mostly women tho), and all have watched it, loved it, and just like myself - bought the DVD!

A fantastic and fun film. 10/10.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is sort of a teen chick flick, but I still wanted to see it. I have a few sensitive bones in my body, I still feel like a teenager in many ways, I'm a sucker for sentimental notions, and, man oh man, that Alexis Bledel sure is pretty. And the film has Amber "Joan of Arcadia" Tamblyn in it, too. I certainly wasn't going to let a little thing like testosterone keep me from enjoying this film.
This is basically a story about four best friends spending a summer apart and doing a lot of growing up in the process. Oh, it's also about a pair of magical jeans. Don't get hung up on that, though; if there's one thing this book isn't, it's silly. It is instead a very rich and meaningful film about each character's maturation and growing understanding of the important things in life. This is not to say these girls are all ready to put away girlish things; the summer changes each of them, but they're still normal, healthy young people with their whole lives ahead of them – but they will be better able to appreciate the ups and downs their futures surely hold.
The girls themselves, lifelong friends, are very different. Lena (Alexis Bledel) is shy and reserved, Carmen (America Ferrera) is down-to-earth but a little bit of an outsider, Tibby (Amber Tamblyn) is rather negative and rebellious, and Bridget (Blake Lively) is a boy-crazy blonde who looks and acts 25. On their last day together before parting ways for the summer, the girls discover an amazing pair of jeans that impossibly fits each of their very different bodies perfectly. The only logical explanation is a magical one, so the girls vow to share the jeans over the summer and report back on the great strokes of luck the jeans will surely bring them.
