We all know these characters and that's what makes it so realistic. Eric must be some brother to be able to jump into the ethnic women's sole -- I mean he hits the attitude, head turning, hand waving and finger snapping girlfriend every time. I loved this book and got totally involved with every character. This is a must read! I also just finished his latest book Friends and Lovers and Chiquita makes a cameo appearance again. You'll love the new book as well, perhaps even more. I love to read and many books were beginning to read the same, however, Eric holds his own -- he is definitely someone to keep watching for.

A definite fast read and A MUST READ for those individuals who doubt an African American male can write about the problems that African American females encounter in relationships and everyday life. I am a great fan of Terry McMillan but I have a new favorite in Eric Jerome Dickey. I thought his portrayals of Valerie, Inda and Chiquita were very sensitive, sassy and definitely people that I could relate to. It's so good that I am reading the book again. So again, hats off to this talented author and may he keep writing more books!!!

This book was one of the best books that I have read in a long time. I just recently read an another book that was wonderful also. Of course it was Friends and Lovers by the one and only Eric Jerome Dickey. I had to run out and get Sister, Sister. I can't wait until his next book is released. I had to special order my book because it seems that the book is so popular in Oklahoma that they can't keep copies on the shelf. I recently started a book club and what do you think the first meeting will be about "Sister, Sister". The name of our book club is "sistah's book club" The part that was most interesting was the way that the sisters talked to one another. Remembering back when I was growing up we used to call each other names like that. This book brought back lots of memories for me. Of course, Jerome missed a few name callings. Like, three double nose and butt face :) Anyway his book was funny combined with a taste of mystery waiting and wondering what would Valerie's next step be.

Jerome you did it again. Keep up the good work and we will wait for your next book to arrive and be in line. If possible we would like to know when the release date would be. (You go boy)!

Yours Truly,

Sistahs Book Club

After recently reading 'Friends and Lovers' and 'Milk in my Coffee', I felt the urge to reread 'Sister,Sister', and I loved it again. Warm, poignant and so real. The trails, and expectations of everyday living were so prevalent, it made me give serious thought to people and how we relate. Inda had me stomping my feet and laughing, but she was telling it like it is. I'm glad Chiquita realized Raymond was a 'Pie Dog' and that she deserved better. EJD subtly imports the important role that family or lack there of, plays in our lives. And in the three books we see positive career minded brothers and sisters, awesome. At some point in all of his books he no longer has characters, but what feels like people, like family or friends. And that is where Eric excels, that's part of the mystery of his penmanship. I love how the couples he puts together, fit like a puzzle, they seem to have the same karma. Your descripitons are so vivid, you have me wanting to go to 5th Street Dicks to lizten to jazz. I can hardly wait for July, to see what has happened in everyone's life. Please keep the press rolling. EJD, YOU ARE ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS.

This was my first-time reading Mr. Dickey's work and I was very impressed. No, this is not a deep rendering of thoughts and emotions that takes you to the depths of your soul INSTEAD it was an unusually funny introspective well written novel with perfectly connected characters. It WAS deep but not in a depressing way that I've grown tired of lately. In other words, Mr. Dickey did not take his characters so seriously that they became boring and monotonous. THIS BOOK WOULD MAKE A GREAT MOVIE !!!!!!! I've seen lots of movies from books, but this book was made for a movie that shows African Americans as we are, at our best and our worst, with friendship and sisterhood being a top priority. Most of his major characters had redeeming qualities and those that didn't were necessary for story development. I was very impressed and now I will have to read the rest of his novels SOON. Thank you Mr. Dickey, you made my day !
