Product Description

Reader

Exquisite! Like the 'balanced rocks' of the American west -- the entire mass perfectly concentrated on the last sentence.

Reader

Akin to driving 90 mph on ice. The tone is light, only adding to the horror. A wonderfully readable book.

Book Description

A wealthy, grieving, ageing gangster -- vengeance having already proved no compensation -- wants only to isolate himself in his walled estate and confide his lifetime's woes and resentments to an imaginary companion: the twin sister he lost at birth. But when two blundering fathers from the local housing estate, in search of their delinquent sons, inadvertently violate the peace of his woodland sanctuary, the gangster's latent killer instinct raises its ugly head once more. One of the most shocking things about this unforgettable tale is how the criminal's private confessions manage to draw us into his bitter and twisted morality, making us a willing party to the inevitable murders.

About the Author

As a psychiatric nurse, Sam Smith has had direct professional experience of criminal psychosis, convincingly portrayed in his first novel for Online Originals, 'Sister Blister'. Before that he was a residential social worker, milkman, plumber, laboratory analyst, groundsman, sailor, computer operator, scaffolder, gardener, painter and decorator -- working at anything, in fact, which paid the rent, enabled him to raise his three daughters and didn't get too much in the way of his writing. The author of four poetry collections, he is also editor of 'The Journal' (once called 'The Journal of Contemporary Anglo-Scandinavian Poetry').
