Product Description

Product Description

For the first time in one volume, here are the true life stories that inspired the Channel 4 television series.

Sirens started out as a blog written by Tom Reynolds, a London ambulance driver.

That, in turn, was published as two volumes of memoir.

These have now been turned into a major new television series and are collected here in one volume for the first time.

Sirens tells the story of what it is really like to work on the frontline of our emergency services. It can be thrilling, it can be heartbreaking, it can be dangerous and it can sometimes be life-affirming.

But most of the time it is just plain annoying.

Excellent Book 5 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
As a former NHS professional and teacher working in child and adolescent psychiatry, I frequently crossed paths with the police and ambulance service. Having read this book, my support and admiration for these wonderful men and women has increased even further.
I laughed out loud, had several lumps in my throat and was even reduced to tears on occasion. This is an excellent behind the scenes peek at what paramedics encounter on a day to day basis. An extremely interesting and highly enjoyable read. If you enjoy true life accounts of what it is like to be a member of the Uk's emergency services, I would strongly recommendPolice, Crime & 999: The True Story of a Front Line Officer.

This is the book that the BBC's excellent "Sirens" series is based on. However, it's a re-issue of "Blood Sweat and Tea", so if you have that, you're not going to get anything new buying this. It also isn't book of the programme, so if you've watched Sirens, then read the book for another perspective.

The book itself is excellent. It is basically some re-edited blog posts, but isn't disjointed like some blog-to-book efforts. The writing is clear and straightforward, and it catapults you straight in to the world of Tom Reynolds and his patients. I recommend it.

Feel Cheated! 9 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Saw this and thought 'great another Tom Reynolds' but no! just new packaging.

Thought this would be another blog type book, but more recent ie. after the TV series was filmed, but was just the same two books i had already had! Don't get me wrong they were GOOD books but only worth reading once!

Loved this book, insight into the Paramedic scene so true to life. This is the second book of Tom Reynolds that I have read, enjoyed both.

Heartrending yet laugh out loud funny!
I bought this book instead of forking out for both to save money and I have found myself sniggering and, more often than not, laughing out loud at the blog posts. Read more

A good read
This was an interesting book as it certainly opened my eyes to how the ambulance service works, I don't think we understand how difficult a job paramedics have.
