Hot read 4 Mar 2011
By suzy
Format:Kindle Edition
THis story was a very hot read. Some very good scenes if you know what I mean. My only complaint would be that Anna cried a lot, like +++++, but then again if I was in her situation, maybe I would have too. It was a very good story, and it you like menages, give this a try. I dont purely buy these books for the sex, its hot I have to agree, but I love a good story, with emotion coming of the pages, and this did it. I would buy another of this authors books.

This book doesn't work on any level.

If you buy erotica for the sex, it doesn't start until half way through, and there is no heat once it does. If you buy erotica for the romance (i.e., the characters) at all, then you will be even more disappointed. The female lead cries in EVERY scene, no joke. And her happily married friend, almost as often. Also, a woman who works two jobs to support her gambling alcoholic of father (unemployed for the last three years) and gives him cash is NOT to be praised (she ain't no quitter), but tagged as an ENABLER in big need of THERAPY. And I haven't even mentioned how bad the portrait of the Italian mobsters is . . .

I barely slogged through this and will not be reading anything else by this author.

Half a star, if I could. 17 July 2011

I was one of those individuals that gave in to buying this book, based on the raving reviews that it got. DO NOT BE FOOLED. The writing was terrible. Absolutely terrible. The plot was shallow, and the character's were just okay. I couldn't get with the relationship between Anna and Stacey. I found it weird that they are supposed to be best friends, but Stacey did not really know anything about her friend. She didn't know she was a virgin, didn't know she wasn't dating, didn't know she was working a double shift to support her father. I actually didn't see how they really knew each other at all other than the fact that the author told us. Another annoyance, how is it that after ONE night with 'her men' she was magically healed of all her past hurts and she could stand up to the man in the bar, but other things made her cower like a lost child. There wasn't any continuity with Anna, one minute she was one way, the next another.

And also! Worse sentences ever written in a book:
"Ben had a look about him. He was very outgoing and attractive, and he knew it. Not that he walked around saying "I'm hot" or anything like that, he just had a star quality about him."

How could someone write that? How could someone publish this? Don't read this book. I love a romance, a hot menage even more, but, I guess, unlike most people, I like my menage to have a solid plot and writing that doesnt sound as if it was done by an eighth grader.

I Really Enjoyed This 24 Feb 2011
By D. Fisk - Published on Amazon.com

For the Love of Anna is the story of a young woman narrowly escaping the horrors of her past to find her future in a most unusual and unforeseen situation.

With her very life at stake, Anna narrowly escapes the city and flees to the home of her only friend. Stacy has been completely in the dark about the dreadful situations Anna has been dealing with and welcomes Anna into her home with open arms. Stacy lives on a huge ranch with her two husbands and their three cousins. Concerned that trouble from her past may follow her, Anna refuses to consider putting her friend at risk by staying too long and decides it will be safe to stay only until she heals from her injuries and can earn enough money to move on. Ben, Wyatt and Charlie have a hunch that Anna may be just the woman they have been waiting all their lives to find. They hope to find a way to convince her to stay put.

The characters in For the Love of Anna are well developed and interesting. Stacy is very convincing as a best friend who will do anything within her power to keep her friend safe. Ben, Wyatt and Charlie each have an intriguing back story that makes them relatable and also makes it easier to understand Anna's attraction to them, as well as theirs for her. The elderly town doctor, the restaurant owners and the other people of the town represent that small town dream of people pulling together and watching out for one another. Pearl may not be perfect, but it would be a wonderful place to live.

This is an impressively enjoyable book. The writing flows easily and the story order and development make sense. While there is angst in the story, it is not over the top. This is, at its core, a love story in which the four main characters all have to overcoming some sort of adversity in their lives to be in the position to be open to the passion and devotion of the long lasting love they all desire.

Having read Dixie Lynn Dwyer previously, I expected to like this book. However, I was not prepared for it to touch my heart the way it did. Anna's courage in being determined to leave the past behind, to release attachments to negative and difficult things and refuse to use those negative things as an excuse for stagnation serve as an amazing example of a courageous and victorious way to live.

For the Love of Anna will be enjoyed by all who appreciate stories of overcoming adversity and finding true love, even when love looks a bit different than one might have expected.
