Review

I can think of no one better suited to write this book. --Michael Caine

A gripping biography... wonderful. --The Daily Mail --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

About the Author

William Hall has known Michael Caine since his earliest acting days, and since then he has been present on virtually all his films, developing a close relationship with him in the process. As a consequence this is an intimate authorised biography that paints a fascinating portrait of a driven man.

My partner suffers from Macular Degeneration and can't even read the largest font on his Kindle now. I thought an audio book would be good. I bought several and Sir Michael Caine: The Biography is his favourite so far.

A chat with Michael Caine 13 Mar. 2015

I love hearing from famous people, how they think, how they got to be where they are now, how they live. Of course they tend to leave out the embarrassing stuff from their pasts (as, of course, would we all) and also some of the questionable stuff they may have had to do on their upward climb, but still, a well-researched biography is no substitute for the words of the celeb themselves, as if they were talking to you (I live in a drab, mind-numbingly small town and need all the interesting "friends" I can get). To wit: one account of getting drunk with John Lennon, a riotous opportunity which has, sadly, passed most of us by and is, therefore, always fun to hear recounted by the Great and the Lucky.

He seems like a nice guy, an amusing drinking buddy with many interesting stories which will leave you smiling and ready for another G&T (British for "gin and tonic"). This has all the nuance of a "bar person", someone who welcomes almost anyone into their circle, who has plenty of funny and interesting things to say, juicy tidbits about other famous people and what they were/are really like, what it's like to make a movie - a hundred stories and all the time in the world to entertain you with them. Read this book slowly...it seems a shame to put it down.

I was pleased to receive it and look forward to listening. My only disappointment is that it is not narrated by the wonderfully interesting Sir Michael himself!
