It fits inside and the connector fits . Have not used the 8 gig flash with it yet. Comes with its own ribbon cable and a spare. so no need to keep the old one.
Installed with a Transcend 32GB card to replace my 1.8" Toshiba after the final 'click of death' in my 5G iPod.
Not sure now if it was necessary, but trouble getting the iPod to recognise it. So formatted the 32GB CF. In exFAT format. Reinstalled. An then resets iPod 5x. Eventually it took.
Item works great so far. Had it New at writing. But all seems well. Does what I wanted. Substituting my old ZIF HDD for. ZIF CF card.
I give it a 4 for the teething problem. Though this is truly nothing to worry about. I persisted. An product works great. If I start to convert iPods. Then I may invest in one of these again for sure!
