Excellent UF series 22 Mar 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sins Of The Demon is the fourth book in the Kara Gillian series by Diana Rowland. Please be warned that there will be spoilers for the earlier books in this review.

Detective Kara Gillian works for the Beaulac police force, she also summons demons These are not demons as you may think of them, they are not creatures from hell they are in fact beings from another plane of existence. Kara became a summoner when she was a teenager, she was taught by her Aunt Tessa after Kara became orphaned. Through the course of the previous 3 books Kara has solved crimes, made friends with her colleague Jill and the FBI agents Ryan and Zack and has also been marked and bound by the demonic Lord Rhyzkahl. In this instalment people who have hurt Kara in the past are dropping dead for no reason. Kara suspects the deaths have something to do with the Arcane and the Mayor suspects that Kara is the killer. Kara has to solve the murders to save her name and save both our world and the demonic world.

I was eager to find out some answers from this book after the massive cliffhanger at the end of book 3 and I wasn't disappointed...well ok I was just a little. I could have done with way more answers than I got plus even more questions were raised. We do find out a bit more about Ryan and the murder of Kara's grandmother and her fellow summoners however we don't find out too much about Lord Rhyzkahl because he isn't in it that much. Boo I love Lord Rhyzkahl.

I really enjoyed the plot and the mystery surrounding the murders I never guessed who the killer was until it was revealed. I also like the characters I think Kara is a great. I will warn you that there is a massive cliffhanger, it is huge, but I do love a good cliffhanger it gets me all excited for the next book which is a year away. It is this cliffhanger that throws up a whole bundle of questions. I thoroughly enjoyed Sins Of The Demon and I am going to give it 5 stars.

Great continuation 2 Feb 2012
By bookaholic VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I've followed this series from the beginning and have enjoyed the concept of demons and demonlords as "people". While they do get called into this world, there are rules to the callings and the summoner risks a great deal each time. Bound by their own honor system these other-worlders allow themselves to be "used".

As one might expect, the usage goes both ways. Both demon and summoner get something out of the connection. Kara is a strong summoner, and because of that she is quite popular with both demons and demonlords. In fact, she has tied herself to Rhyzkahl, one of the most powerful demonlords. This connection brings Kara both trouble and companionship.

Kara is a homocide detective. In this book, as in the others, the murders described have something off about them. All supernatural. It seems that she is being set up. Not only demons can be summoned, but it seems also summoners. Someone is trying to get hold of Kara, and it is getting more and more difficult to resist the summons.

As entertainment, this is a pretty great book. The characters are well-written (some 3- and some 2-dimensional). It is urban fantasy at its better. Diana Rowland does a good job.

Oh come on....you're kidding....right? 10 Jan 2012
By Sheila Dayton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this book. Not because it isn't well written, because it is. Or because the author was just going through the motions plot wise (which sometimes seems to happen in series...it's like they run out of fresh ideas but keep on writing because they want to cash in). No, good story...good writing... really well done. So why three stars? Because this story ends with such a cliff hanger, and this author seems to take a year or so between installments. It's not fair, really, when so little gets resolved that you're left wanting more than you should. It's like getting a drink of something that leaves you thirstier than you were before. Great for the author...but what about the reader? Personally, I feel a bit ripped off...for my $ 7.99 I want to be left feeling like I got an entire story...not just enough to pave the way for the next book. I suggest that Ms. Rowland look at the series by authors such as Patricia Briggs or Ilona Andrews...great series...that leave you wondering what's going to happen next...BUT not wishing you hadn't purchased the book until the next one is out. In my opinion, this book is more like a half story, rather than a whole story. And the odd thing is, it didn't have to be that way....leave off such severe cliff hangers...please!

Wait for the next title. 10 Jan 2012

This book ends with a cliffhanger and does not have a complete story behind it. The book is well written but it is like any cliffhanger in a book leaving it with a feeling of half finished. I would advise you to wait until the next book comes out before buying and reading this one. Good luck finding good literature.

It doesn't end it just stops. 28 Jan 2012

I would have bought the next book anyway, why then the irritating cliff hanger. It's very annoying. And when the next book comes out I'll have dredge up the memory of the middle of the story.
