Product Description

The first book of the Wayfarerer Redemption, an enthralling continuation of The Axis trilogy, by the bestselling Australian author Sara Douglass

Forty years have passed, Axis and Azhure have taken their rightful places among the other Star Gods.

Their cherished first-born, Caelum Starson, now rules and all appears peaceful. But the Throne of the Stars brings frightful responsibilities, and sometimes Caelum listens to the wrong advice. Old resentments between Acharite and Icari threaten to overwhelm Caelum’s tentative control, and civil war looms on the horizon.

As there are tensions in the land and among the peoples of Tencendor, so are there tensions among the SunSoar family itself. Drago, denied his Icari heritage as punishment for a treacherous infancy is constantly reminded that while his brothers and sisters revel in power and youth, he ages under the restrictions of his human blood. Riverstar is now a vain and spiteful young woman, and Zenith, his youngest sister, is experiencing memories that are destroying her peace of mind.

But a far more menacing threat to the peace of Tencendor lingers beyond the Star Gate. The children that Wolfstar hurled to their deaths hundreds of years ago want their revenge, their whispering is becoming louder and they are not alone.

3.0 out of 5 stars The worst of the six so far, 1 Jun 2001

This book is only average, not up to par with the other five. The storyline is a bit lacking and the characters are getting decidedly flat. Fortunately, the next two are better again, so you might as well plough your way through this.

3.0 out of 5 stars the one with the grown up star children...., 18 April 2000

This book definitely is published, I bought a 2nd hand copy from a bookstore in NZ...not a bad story with an interesting twist that 'Drago' doesn't have any recollection of trying to kill his brother; we get some more clues as to what made the sacred lakes; and what is beyond the star gate...I'm looking forward to the next ones...

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok, we get the picture! It's not that bad!, 21 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Sinner (Wayfarer Redemption) (Paperback)
Ok, admittedly, it doesn't live up to the previous trilogy. But it still has a good involving plot, and it's fairly easy reading. Speaking from a teenage point of view I would say this is a great book to ease yourself into the sci-fi/fantasy genre, before working yourself forward onto more challenging read like Janny Wurts, Tad Williams or Robin Hobb (or the more fun writing of Laurell K. Hamilton). So if you've only just moved on from J. K. Rowling or Tamora Pierce, this is a good, absorbing read with not too complex a story-line. In truth, the characters in this are a bit more... flat than the original trilogy (and all the original cast seem dull, old and Faraday (as always she was) seems very boring). But with Zared, Leagh, Theod, Goldman, and ofcourse, Drago, you don't really mind, 'cause this new generation is far more fun than the last! So pick up this book for a fun read!
