Fast, witty action stories,
By
This review is from: Sinister Dexter: Gunshark Vacation (Sinister Dexter 1) (Paperback)
I first came to Sinister Dexter via the 2000 AD comics, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed them - considering the main characters are a couple of ruthless, amoral hitmen. But the writing is so sharp and the plots so interesting that you can't help enjoying them. The art complements the stories perfectly. If you enjoy black humour, socio-political comment and high-octane gory action, you really will love this one. But be warned, this is not the usual hunting ground for the boys; though you get to see their own patch (Downlode, the city that fell down and couldn't get up), they do go off on a trip to Asbestopol, a euro-trash resort of extremely nasty tendency. And I also warn you, once you've read one of these you will come back for more.

Nostalgia,

This review is from: Sinister Dexter: Gunshark Vacation (Sinister Dexter 1) (Paperback)
I grew up reading Sinister Dexter on the pages of 2000AD magazine and loved the action, the babes and the jokes. Now I've been going on a bit of a binge and catching up on some of the stories I missed. It's very cool being able to see how the story started and how the characters developed. Humble beginnings. A series of short stories, unconnected and fairly formulaic. But as the popularity of the series grew so did the size of the stories. Now I'm older there is a silliness about the whole thing and mostly what keeps me interested is the nostalgia and the art work of Simon Davis which is INCREDIBLE. I had the please of talking to him a few weeks ago. I was ecstatic.

sorry,
By Arthur W. Scholbe "awscho" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Gunshark Vacation (Sinister Dexter) (Paperback)
These books were a waste of time. Little plot development, no character development, they're just a series of stories that have little point to them. Sinister and Dexter are two Gunsharks in the future city of Downlode. They pick up contracts and kill people. There you go. That's the plotline of each story, with a few unnecessary panels inbetween.
