Skellywags 27 Sep 2008
By Coincidence Vs Fate TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
I first got into the Coral at the time of their debut "Shadows Fall" EP mainly due to a buzz on different message boards. They were also similar in style (at that time) to the fantastic Shack.

This is a welcome resume from Skelly and Co and shows just what they're capable of; from the magical "Dreaming", the poptastic "In the Morning" and the new single "Being Somebody Else" which is a real return to form after a few disappointing releases of late.

The inclusion of the EP version of "Shadows Fall" is also a nice touch.

Once you listen to this album you'll begin to realise just how talented the band are.

What An Album 29 Sep 2008
By MD
Format:Audio CD
I remember always liking the Coral but in a hectic year with the birth of my son i hadnt bought Roots and Echoes. As things are not as hectic now i went out and purchased The Singles Collection and realised what a great band the Coral are and probably the better tracks came from Roots and Echoes [which ive also purchased]. This is going straight on my ipod as this is one of the best albums ive ever heard.

A 2 CD set of 33 tracks. CD 1 is called the Singles Collection and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Brilliant stuff! What I would describe as beaty, catchy, semi-acoustic songs with a great 60's feel to them. Jacqueline and Put the Sun Back were particular favs but there isn't a weak song here at all. This CD will stay in the car a long time. The second CD is called Mysteries and Rarities. A more mixed bag in terms of musical styles. Diehard fans will probably love it but I found some tracks making me want to hit the skip button pretty quickly. This may be unfair - I've only listened to CD 2 a few times - and perhaps they'll grow on me with time. I do hope so.
