(This is album 3.5 to the fans - who are still waiting for the release of the 4th late summer 2002).
This album features all the best songs from the brilliant band 'Ace of Base', it has all the singles released over the 90s plus a few extra tracks. It contains classics such as 'All That She Wants' and 'Wheel of Fortune' as well as the newer ones eg 'Life is a Flower' and 'Always Have, Always Will.'
If you're an Ace of Base fan than buy this record not only because it contains brilliant new tracks, but because you'll also have all the best singles on one handy CD.
If you've not got an Ace of Base CD buy this one because it gives you the best idea of what the Band is all about, from their very earliest songs right up to the latest releases, see how their style has evolved over the years, but always manages to stay somewhat similar and orginal.

Ace of Base were the 9o's equivalent of Dollar. ie: Supposedly light-weight pop turn that it's pretty ok to like. They weren't as good as Dollar; not as corrupt and mad in a euphoric, ersatz-Brit sense, but they'd a similar flow; a refreshing charming dumbness; and, of course, that noble and admirable ability to get right up the noses of the NME-reading 'rock' tribe. Laughing quietly to yourself about the 3o million or so albums they sold worldwide, while ugly old Pop Will Eat Itself and the truly horrific Wonderstuff sold about a hundredth of that between them, is also a droll delectation.

This collection doesn't all hit; some of the work is just too wee and runny, and the cover versions are average at best, but the majority is robust and dirty enough to engage even the most listless listener in some sentimental longing for times of prettier aesthetics. Their empathetic cracks at reggae and dub invoke the divine spirit of Trojan and Island far more honestly and earthily than a thousand Shabby Shabbas. Even forays into the 9o's-compulsional sampling and rapping is kept to reasonable levels; even when they do give it a whirl, the smilingly Scandinavian accents neuter much of the painfulness from the genre and drag out the win.
Some AoB song titles queerly resemble prog titles; seemingly flirting with euro-peace/love and hippy-drippy, while the actual songs themselves forget this in translation. It's obviously erroneous, but one can't help be whipped away by it. Surely even Tangerine Dream or Yes would've baulked at the likes of 'Life is A Flower' or 'Dancer in a Daydream'.

'Ces't La Vie' is a bouncing rapture, 'It's a Beautiful Life' and 'Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry' brim over the side of the frosted glass with appeal and the sheer joy of existence and being in/out of love.

This in my opinion contains the best Ace of Base tracks ever. I have all the albums but I don't need them. If you've ot this you've got the best. I am disapointed they haven't brought out a new greatest hit's album with the Da Capo singles on. So buy this and Da capo and you'll be fine. This album contains the hit's All that she wants(uk#4), The sign(uk#2/us#1), Don't turn around(uk#3), Life is a flower(uk#6) and 2 exclusive singles c'est la vie and Halo Halo. This album also cotains the groups first 2 single Happy Nation and Wheel of Fortune. A mustfor any CD collection!

Great dance collection & much better than US version 20 Aug. 2000
By Mary Morgan - Published on
Format: Audio CD
From their first hit here in the US, "All That She Wants", to their newest single, "C'est La Vie (Always 21)", plus two other new songs, this CD has it all. From their 1st CD:The Sign, All That She Wants, Living In Danger, Don't Turn Around, Happy Nation, & Wheel Of Fortune. From their 2nd CD:Beautiful Life, Lucky Love, & Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry (extended club mix). From their 3rd & last all new CD released in America:Cruel Summer, Always Have Always Will, Everytime It Rains, & Life Is A Flower. This CD also has a few new tracks featured:C'est La Vie (Always 21), Hallo Hallo, & Love In December. Any serious Ace Of Base fan should seriously consider spending the extra money to import this version of the CD. The US release, lacks many of the tracks featured here, (only has 12 and 2 are remixes) and most importantly, only includes ONE of the three new tracks on this CD, "C'est La Vie (Always 21)". It even comes in a collector's box which is pretty cool.

Why don't they make a box set of all of Ace of Base's songs? 27 May 2002
By Andy - Published on
Format: Audio CD
This CD makes me depressed, not in the fact that the CD bad, quite the contrary, it is an awesome CD. But, in the fact that I know that many of Ace of Base's songs are not going to be released here in the USA. Why don't they release more eurodance over here!? My favorite song on this CD is "Love in December", it is the perfect dance song. Yet another Swedish group following in the footsteps of ABBA, and guess what? It works. This CD is full of their most popular songs-in Europe. I was pleasently surprised to find some remixes of some of the songs we have! Most notably, the "Cruel summer" mix is definitely worthy of a purchase. I had originally bought this CD because of the songs I haven't heard. "Hallo, hallo" and "Love in December". Once again, depression sets in, now, why don't they make a box set of ALL of Ace of Base's songs, surely there is a market for that (hey, big record executives, are you listening?) Well, if you don't believe me about the incredible coolness of Ace of Base, then buy this CD and fall in the warm glow of eurodance!

This CD is simply the best collection of the best pop group of the 90's. The most destacable fact is that this CD is more complete than the U.S. release which don't include the hits: "Happy Nation" , "Love In December", "Living in Danger", "Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry" nor "Hallo Hallo" which are definitely great Ace of Base songs. The first single is one of my favorite all-time pop songs. It is really worthwhile to buy it. You will not regret. :o)

the only AOB cd one needs 3 April 2004
By Da Man - Published on
Format: Audio CD
as one of the (seemingly few) American fans of Ace Of Base left, I was happy to pick this cd up on ebay a few weeks ago. This album is superior to the American compilation in every way. A few of my favorite AOB hits (Living In Danger and Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry) were left off the US version. Also, this copy gets 2 more exclusive tracks that were left off the US version.
A handful of these songs are presented in the European remixes, as opposed to the American versions, and you know what? I love the Euro mixes of Cruel Summer, Lucky Love and Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry even better than the Americanized versions!
Get this cd over the US "Greatest Hits", it's a great collection of one of the best pop acts of the 90's.
