Erasure "Tomorrow's World"

Biography

Following the disbandment of the short-lived synth pop group Yazoo, former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke formed Erasure in 1985 with singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft, than either of Clarke's previous bands. Furthermore, Erasure had the flamboyantly… Read more in Amazon's Erasure Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Listen to those wonderful Erasure B Sides & remixes, 29 May 2002

This collection of Erasure's earlier material is a really good idea from Mute records. It gives all Erasure fans the chance to listen to all of the bands tracks taken from each of their singles since 1985. I got into Erasure in 1990 so I missed out on a number of Erasure's singles in the 1980's so this collection is a must-have for the likes of myself. But even if you already own the original singles released in the 1980's, you also get to hear many Erasure remixes to each of the duo's earlier hits which is another added bonus to this excellent compilation.
This is the first of a series of four compilations covering all of Erasure's material since 1985 until 1993. I expect Mute to release a fifth compilation covering Erasure's work from 1994 to the present day.
Overall I strongly recommend this compilation to all Erasure fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best!, 3 Dec 1999

I cannot believe I will now be able to replace my vinyl versions of remixes with CD. Erasure fans around the world should be rejoicing over the release of this material. However, some of you may want to order Volumes 1 & 2 through Amazon.com.uk since it actually ends up being cheaper to have it shipped from the UK (plus, you can also get Volume 2!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Say No, 20 Jan 2000
By Scott S. Shea - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Ebx1-Singles Collection (Audio CD)
This really is a great collection of all the rare and popular mixes of the duo. Even the packaging and color-coordinating of the CD's (you'll know what I mean) is first-rate. Yes, most of these have been released before and this is just another means for the record company to squeeze out more dollars from us, the fans, but I must admit it was great to add the previously-unreleased-on-CD material to my collection and for the fan that doesn't have all of the single CD's...this will be heaven for you. Wait until you all hear the Ruby Red Mix of Don't Say No. On fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Collection!, 1 Aug 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Single Box Set Vol.1 (Audio CD)
I have been an Erasure fan since 1988 when I first heard The Innocents. Yet it wasn't until a friend had me listen to The Two Ring Circus that I became a die-hard fan. Between 1988 and 1996 I bought everything from Erasure I could get my hands on. Vinyl (yes, vinyl), CD's, everything with every remix. It's nice to now have this box set with all the early stuff on 5 CD's. Takes up much less space. And I am anxiously awaiting Box Sets 3 & 4 which are set to be released in October of 2001, I believe. This Box Set is well worth the money and is sure to give hours of listening enjoyment to both those who are already familiar with Erasure and to those who haven't yet been exposed to this very special Duo. I would give a bonus 6th star for packaging alone, if I could. Comes in a compact box with color coordinated CD's and a nice booklet that shows the artwork from the original CD Single (or Vinyl Single) packaging. Very, very nice Box Set!
