I have a particular interest in the Malaya campaign of late 1941 and early 1942, and this is one of the key books in my library. Why? Simply, it is one of those very well written personal accounts of the campaign from the perspective of a young British officer. It is one of those books that when you pick it up, it is difficult to put down (when I first read it I was still reading it at 2.00 am). This book provides a detailed insight into the day to day life of the soldiers involved, and the chaos and confusion that surrounded their lives. The author has a easy to read and engaging style that left me in admiration for all he achieved. Buy it, it is simply too good not to.
