Amazon.co.uk

In 1976 a young Toronto musician released a fun and lively record called Singable Songs for the Very Young. The artist was a fellow called Raffi, and in the liner notes he wrote at the time that "there are very few good children's records." True as that was in the '70s, Singable Songs became the No. 1 bestseller in its field and set the standard for today's greater volume of high-quality material. The Singable Songs Collection reissues the classic Singable Songs for the Very Young and its superlative successors, More Singable Songs and Corner Grocery Store, as a set. Raffi's exhilarating acoustic musicality and sense of humor shine brightly through. Single-digit-age kids and their parents will get a kick out of these silly, educational, and joyful songs, which range in subject matter and tone from shared peanut-butter sandwiches and instrumental ragtime to standards like "Goodnight, Irene." --Paige La Grone

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for adults and kids alike! 18 Jan 2007
Format:Audio CD
If you are looking for a cd of children`s songs search no further. This 3 cd set has kept my whole family singing! The songs are catchy but not annoyingly so. The great thing is they don`t patronise the little ones. We usually listen to them at bathtime and if we fancy a change we have 3cds to choose from. Particularly favourites are Anansi and Les Zombie on disc 3. So don`t think twice, get your children listening to this, you won`t regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless and easy to listen to 14 Aug 2007
Format:Audio CD
We love this CD. I've bought so many rubbish childrens song cd's in the past. This one is fab. We love all the songs and the children particularly like Shake your sillies out, Sur le Pont d'Avingnon, a Peanut butter sandwich and the Zombis. There are a good range of instrumental sounds - lots have got a foot tapping cajun feel. Very listenable too, catchy, singalongable! This was made in 1976 - but honestly you would never know this - it is very contemporary and not dated one bit. Great value with the 3 CD's. Corner Grocery store is the favourite of all three - but they're all great.

I particularly like the mix of english and french used in the songs and the fact that there is a mix of the traditional nursery rhyme with some unusual ones ps the version of baa baa black sheep is fab - with moo moo brown cow and cluck cluck red hen.
