I do love Motown so I was hoping they would do a Motown version and I'm glad they have. Most of the songs are quite well known and accessible to everyone with a taste for Motown. There are the songs you'd expect to see:
Jimmy Ruffin - What Becomes of the Broken Hearted, Martha & the Vandellas - Nowhere to Run, Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On, What's Goin' On, It Takes Two, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - The Tracks of My Tears, The Contours - Do You Love Me?, The Four Tops - Reach Out I'll Be There, I Can't Help Myself Jackson 5 - I Want You Back, ABC, Supremes - You Can't Hurry Love, Stop In The Name of Love, The Temptations - Get Ready. The others are fairly well known but they're the type that wouldn't be the first you'd list when you are asked to name a Motown song. I have to say I was quite surprised that The Temptations - My Girl wasn't on it. I'm giving this a 4* because of my own personal taste. I would have liked to see more Stevie Wonder songs, I'll Be There/Got To Be There - Jackson 5, Martha & The Vandellas - Heatwave, Otis Redding - Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay/Love Man/These Arms of Mine, Al Green - Let's Stay Together/How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, Four Tops - Baby I Need Your Lovin', Money - Barret Strong, War - Edwin Starr, I Say A Little Prayer - Aretha Franklin, You Are Everything - Diana Ross & Marvin Gaye, and I feel that You're All I Need To Get By - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell should definitely have been on it. I just would have preferred it if some of the songs on the disk were replaced by some of these.

I bought this game for my wife because the range of songs on the other Singstar games is sometimes a little too modern and varied for the older taste. This selection is definitely aimed at the older music fan and will probably appeal only to Motown fans. There were only four songs out of fourteen that I wasn't familiar with which is a pretty good hit rate. Its a pity that the PS2 Singstar discs won't play on the PS3 because I thought the selection of songs on that was better and of course its cheaper.
