Jessica tells of her experiences with deafness, starting with becoming partially deaf from meningitis and later becoming profoundly deaf as a result of a road accident. This is not however a story of tragedy. Jessica tells her story with good humour and explains the practical implications of both partial and total deafness on everyday life. The book is useful for anyone who wants to know more about what it really means to be deaf, rather than the bare mechanics of hearing loss or the politics of the deaf community....
