I have a few of these Cliff Adam's collections of Sing Something Simple. Originally booked for a short 6-week series on the old BBC light programme, it was an instant success with listeners and became one of the longest running music programmes ever.
My favourite CD's in the Sing Something Simple collection are on BBC Music. This CD is on the Crimson label. It's another typical collection of favourite songs easy on the ear, and no songs seem out of reach for the Cliff Adams treatment. On this CD you have the sheer nostalgia of songs like, I Left My Heart In San Francisco, The Skye Boat Song, Georgia On My Mind, Island In The Sun.
Then apart from those obvious favourites you have more unlikely material like Route 66, a song done by Chuck Berry and The Rolling Stones, but moulded into the SSS fashion. Also a Bonnie Tyler song is on here, Lost In France. Another song, My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean - was one of the first songs recorded by Tony Sheridan & The Beatles. So a complete mix of diverse material and the easiest of easy-listening.
I do remember these programmes on a Sunday, and this is another CD for my collection, satisfying, but not my favourite one.
