Book Description

16 Dec 2010
The third book in a delicious quartet of Regency-set historical romances, following Provocative in Pearls and Ravishing in Red (both Jove, 2010 - available from Turnaround). Celia's quiet life ends when her mother, a famed London courtesan, dies - leaving her a small house in town and a darkly handsome, reputedly dangerous tenant. Irresistible and wonderfully entertaining, Sinful in Satin is sure to delight Madeline Hunter's many fans.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointing 13 Feb 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The plot seems to ramble along, pages of pointless events, picks up abit at the end but still dissappointing compared to other books from this author.

2.0 out of 5 stars Waiting for something to happen... 11 Mar 2011
By Maria
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed the first two books in the series and was looking forward to this one. It's an okay story but well, rather dull. I spent the whole story waiting for something to happen. There are some oblique references to background intrigue but it didn't really engage me at all.

Disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moved me to tears - excellent story... 18 Jan 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I've followed Madeline Hunter from the start, and I think this is her best yet. Its a good story; the characters are involving and believable - you so want them to be happy! I have loved this whole set of stories so far (the last in the quartet is due here in the UK in April), with this as the third instalment. For some reason, this one worked best for me. It also whets the appetite yet further for the last - the story of Castleford...

Strongly recommended. Strong storytelling; events without melodrama; and people you wish you knew. And isn't that what we want from books? People we wish we knew, new friends?

4.0 out of 5 stars A very gentle pace... 19 Mar 2011
By Kristin
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
When first introduced to Madeline Hunter by Reviews on Amazon in the first place, I have enjoyed all of her books, especially starting with The 'Seducer' onwards and my favourite was Rules of Seduction with Easterbrook (how I loved that man!).

This series however, is much more gentle; I didn't read Provocative in Pearls because Hawkeswell and Verity didn't grab me enough, but thought I would give this one a chance. I enjoyed it, but only to keep up until I read the last in the series with Castleford's story; he is, I think, very attractive and an unknown quantity just like Easterbrook was.

So, although I agree in the main with the other reviewers, I am glad I read it to continue the link until the main dish, coming in a month or so.

Maybe her next book will have a bit more depth and more bite or her fans will go elsewhere.
