This is one of the Home Farm Twins books by Jenny Oldfield. They feature the young twins, Helen and Hannah, who have an increasing number of animals to care for on their Lake District farm. These are excellent books for young animal lovers.

When the twins hear that Sinbad is to stay with them while their owner goes on holiday they are not at all worried. "Cats are easy", says Helen. He is so beautiful that they are captivated by him. Little did they know what trouble he would cause! Trouble begins when he won't eat the tempting food the twins provide for him - and steals from the dog! Then their dad's birthday cake suffers after Sinbad manages to get at it! But worse is to come. Sinbad runs away! The local magnate loses some very valuable fish from his pond! Mr. Winter, the cross old retired teacher, finds that his fish supper has disappeared! And they're all blaming Sinbad - and the twins - and chasing them through Doveton! How can the twins get Sinbad - and themselves - out of big trouble?
