Simply excellent, classy presentaion and a superb image library, 11 Oct 2007
5 out of 5 without a doubt, fanastic in every way. The quality of the book is something to be seen and cherished. A lot of work has clearly gone into it.
The presentation is simple, yet dramatic, the book is a great insight and gives you a real feel of what it must have been like to be as close as possible to the legend that is Frank Sinatra. Filled with rare pictures, stories, and comments from Terry O'Neill.
A must buy for every Frank fan. . . and every O'Neill fan for that matter!

superbly frank, 17 Nov 2007
This is a very superior book which is heartily recommended to all Sinatra fans. The glossy, photograph-style reproduction of Terry O'Neill's work together with his comments make this a 'must-have' addition to all our libraries. EXCELLENT STUFF !!

Is the package better that the prezzie???, 15 April 2008
Now just before you start throwing things at your PC screen and hitting the 'unhelpful' review button, I'll just clarify here that I am a huge fan of the Chairman and not in anyway inclined to bash for the sake of it, may'be this was a simple case of just expecting too much, which is perhaps why this review is more critical than the previous reviewers opinions
Now that the initial fervour has died down a little regarding this tome, I'm simply posting a review based on 'my' feelings, when this was initially published there was quite a powerful media interest in the book, with reviews in quite a diverse cross section from film mags to woman's weeklies, giving it generally a positive thumbs up, now it's a few months down the line and I felt a retropective review would be worthwhile,
An overview here on the presentation of the book, it's is an oversize volume with a cardboard slipcase which shows the same cover as the book itself, it's quite heavy due both to it's size and the glossy photo style pages within,
The photo's themselves are mainly from the mid sixties, during the Tony Rome shoot, and some later concerts, rehersals and again some from the First Deadly Sin shoot in the 80's, they are indexed, some incorrectly and punctuated by some comments from Terry O'Neill, the photographer, again, some of these seem to relate to completely different instances and some are attributed to Mr O'Neill but have been repeated from other sources, which I found pretty annoying, I'd have preferred some written dialogue regarding the details of the shoot, behind the scenes chat, or some anecdotal spin or two, from him or anyone else around at the time, so if your looking for anything other than pics to enhance the book, then forget it!
The photo reproduction style pages, hmmmm! nice novelty, and gives the initial impression that you are holding a photo album as opposed to a book, but naturally this has contributed to the whopping, to some budgets, price tag, and to be fair, it's a fast wearing novelty, the pictures themselves are, in the main, quite nice shots catching Frank at work and play, but none really had me registering them as some increadible once in a lifetime pic, but frequently came across as a little repetitious and pretty bland, speaking as a photography student I could cover some dubious technical aspects as well but that's being picky, hey may'be I'm being a little picky here but I paid my money so I think I'm entitled and I'd give anyone else the same consideration,
Have I became spoiled with the many books available on Frank, has the novelty of some unreleased pics lost it's interest? I don't think so! looking again, for example, at the Willoughby book, "An Intimate Collection" I was struck with the differences between the two, ok the paperstock is inferior but it's a cheaper buy with three times the amount of shots from a wider range in Franks career with side comment which is both informative and interesting and basically,in my opinion, better all around!
Summing up, for anyone interested in a flashy photograph album, and admittedly it IS flashy, who has no worries about budget and no interest in accompany reading, who'll be impressed with shiny pages and pics that will get the once over, then perhaps a later cursory scan, then this is the book for you, if you're looking for a little more substance then I'd give it a body swerve or alternatively get it at a cheaper price or better still borrow it from the library, "IF" you then believe that you're getting good value for money or it's a book you just can't live without then I'd hit that order button, if not well, you can always spend the cash you've saved on some other Sinatra goodies.
