If you have just got a serger (or overlocker as we call them in the UK) then this book would be great to get you going. It starts off by explaining what an overlocker is, what you can use it for, the most common stitches and gives you a guide to the accessories, feet and threads. It also tackles the dreaded threading process, giving a link to some useful videos you can watch online too, and tells you how to use the machine.

All of this instruction is accompanied by large colour photos which make it very clear what you should be doing. The author also shares many questions that she has been asked through her site and gives her response - to help address common queries.
Once you've got the hang of using your overlocker you then turn to the second half of the book: the projects. There are 25 different projects including a few different bags, pyjama trousers, a pillow case, baby bib, little girl's top and an apron. There are useful tips scattered through out the projects as well as step by step photos and instructions.

At the very back of the book there is a guide to maintaining your overlocker. This book is an easy to follow guide to using overlockers which would be ideal for beginners.

This is my second Serging book as I wanted to practice some easy projects. Like all manuals, there is always the same basic intro about the machines, etc. this book has good photo instructions as well as materials needed and serger settings for each project. The projects are useful items and use scraps or small amounts of material for most. Recommend.

When I first bought my serger (overlocker), I was gobsmacked. Not a single part of it was anything like my standard sewing machine and the manual did not help matters. In ordering this book from Amazon, I was quickly able to learn to master my serger and after just 4 months, I am already confident in making quality clothing and repairs.

I was disappointed that the projects were rather old fashioned and uninspiring. And when I attempted them I found some of the instructions were very badly written and impossible to follow. I'm an experienced seamstress so this isn't the complaint of a total novice, they were just poorly written instructions with inadequate photographs. I do not recommend this book.

Having had a serger(overlocker) for years and never really got good use from it, I purchased this book to spur me on.....and it certainly does. Some good ideas to get you started and to practice with, looking forward to moving on from here now. An ideal starter book

Good basic description. I know it is basically a beginner book, but the projects were so boring. There are better books out there

Bought as a gift but I believe it is well explained and has some good projects in it.
