Simply Brilliant,
This review is from: Simply Lebanese (Hardcover)
Brilliant! Simply Lebanese has opened a whole new world of cooking to me. As a huge fan of Nigel Slater and Jamie Oliver, Simply Lebanese made middle eastern cooking more simple than I ever hoped it could be. Having dined at the authors restaurant Al Bustan in south kensington I had been dying to try and make some of the dishes at home and with eastern ingredients easy to find I have found a whole new array of dishes to prepare, a great relief for regular dinner party guests. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Very disappointed,
This review is from: Simply Lebanese (Hardcover)
Please don't waste your money on this book. The recipes (to be polite) are uninspiring, the emphasis clearly being on the "simply" rather than the "Lebanese". As someone who has lived in Lebanon, I can't help but feel let down on behalf of Lebanese cooks everywhere who might well be associated with the sort of dull, uninspiring fare presented in this book.
Apparently there is a restaurant of the same name, run by the author, in Kensington, South London. I can't say I'm inspired to make the 10 minute tube ride to try it out! There are so many cookery books on the market now that it's hard to publish one that stands out from the crowd. However, the quality of the competition is not the problem here. This is a lazy effort from an author devoid of imagination. Avoid. Check out Claudia Roden's books instead.

It is the best cooking book I've bought. The picture of the salad on the book cover took my heart and I decided to buy it even if the salad was the only good dish in the book. But I am lucky for ownning this book.I made some of the dishes in the book and all of them were delicious .The book is the result of the writer's experience as mother and a chef. The essential engrediants of the recipes were explained to make it easy for those who like lebanese food and haven't tried cooking it before.

Beautiful book. Lovely pictures through out the book. US customers need to know that this book is printed in the UK, therefore the measuring system is different but not too difficulty to figure out the conversion. Some recipes may contain long list of ingredients, but most of those ingredients you can find in most grocery stores across the US and middle eastern stores. Can't wait to make my first batch of the ma'maoul cookies with pistachios and date. Yum.

A top pick for any international cookbook collection,
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com

It features unique flavors with little else like it in the world. "Simply Lebanese" is a guide to Lebanese cooking and the finer details of the style, to help readers prepare authentic Lebanese food in their own home. With a glossary defining traditional Lebanese ingredients, and plenty of recipes for many occasions, readers will see Lebanese takes on tomato soup, salads, as well as original dishes such as Kibbeh makleih, and more. "Simply Lebanese" is a top pick for any international cookbook collection.
