I bought this book because my Italian mother-in-law could only pass on recipes with "an onion, some garlic and a bit of hot chilli" which meant nothing to me. Afterall, how much is a bit? Whilst I have no idea if these are authentic Italian recipes I do know the ones I've used have been a hit, especially the Garlic Prawns, and most would appear to resemble the ingredients my mother-in-law would use. Her mantra is "always use fresh", whether it's tomatoes, herbs, vegetables or meat. I certainly recommend this book for those who love cooking with fresh ingredients and want to learn the basics of Italian cooking, although if you've got olive oil, garlic, chilli and salt you're half way there!

Was shown this cook book whilst in an Italian Restaraunt in Spain took a note of the details and sourced it through Amazon as published 2002.
Easy to follow, uncomplicated and lots of good hints. So glad I found it.

I want to eat this book 18 May 2008

A wonderful Italian cookbook! Perhaps a little intimidating for beginners, as it includes unusual ingredients as calf brain, truffles, and rabbit. For the cook wanting a variety of healthy, fresh, and authentic recipes from all regions of Italy, this is your book. Wonderful explanations and photos.
Simple, delicious recipes representing a nice cross-section of Italian cuisine 20 Oct 2005
By P. Mignini - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The recipes in Simply Italian are a good representation of Italian cooking. Pasta, sausage, beef and other basics are represented well. All recipes are straightforward, and the pictures give a good representation of the dishes. The collection does not dwell on any one area - e.g. sauces - which is fine. Comments in the margins point out particulars of the ingredients or dishes.

I've prepared about 6-7 of the dishes in this book, and all have been very well received by guests. I recommend this, particularly for the person looking for a good entry point into Italian cuisine.
