I was looking forward to getting this book and saved up some Carr's coupons off their packs to buy it at their offer price. When it arrived I opened it and settled down to read it. Page 8 it says "I use Carr's breadmaker flour ... becuase its the best you can buy" Well it's good flour - no doubt about that BUT it's not the best you can buy. He goes on "I use a Panasonic breadmaker because ...." Page 9 (and a large slice of page 8 as well) is a picture of crumpled paper. Next two pages are a picture of a millstone and him with "Don't be fooled by the mill stones! I haven't got the energy to grind my own flour but it made a great shot for the book"

This really sets the tone for the whole book. Pretty poor recipes - badly explained.

Each recipe takes up two pages - large picture on the left hand side and a little bit of text on the right. Sometimes the picture is relevant sometimes not Sometimes the right hand page is nearly full of text but often it has only a few words on it. Sometimes most or all of the words are "follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding the order of liquid/dry ingredients and set your machine to basic/normal setting, large loaf, medium crust".

Sometimes the recipes simply don't work. Page 51 - Cheese and Marmite Bread: just try spreading Marmite on dough! (if you want to make this recipe work: mix the Marmite with melted butter first by the way) I would also suggest halving the amount of Marmite. Oh and by the way - by the time you have rolled the dough into a Swiss roll shape it will be so compressed that it will have to treble (at least) - not double - in size before it is ready to bake.

Page 90 and 91 a cheese and cherry tomato loaf : Roll bread to a rectangle - fold the bread [sic] over the filling twice ....

This book includes method for both hand made and machine made fresh bread. Recipes are easy to follow and start at the absolute basic loaves right through to different types and flavours of bread. It explains the mechanics of bread making and numerous basic loaves, white, brown etc So you can have an everyday loaf or something more special

Full of wonderful recipes, including gluten-free which is a bonus. Many recipes are already earmarked to be tested. The recipes are presented clearly and the book is a delight to look at.

Not sure it translates well to the Kindle format, there doesn't appear any way to go direct to a recipe without starting at page one and turning. On the up side, the videos are a good thing and very informative
