I have read very nearly as many cookery books as I have had hot dinners over the years, and this is the first one I've been tempted to review. If you need to avoid gluten or dairy then you'll know how hard it can be to find reliable recipes. The photos are gorgeous, but more importantly every recipe works. If you want some yummy recipes this is the book to buy.

I have been looking for a Gluten-free book to suggest to friends to purchase and this is the one I'm going to tell them about.
The photography is fresh and vibrant and the recipes are extremely easy to follow. Grace Cheetham's straight-forward approach to the recipes makes preparing and cooking the dishes incredibly easy.
I can't wait to tuck into the Chicken Sesame Nuggets, the Prawn, Broad Bean and Avocado Bruschetta and the Vegetable Tagine. Absolutely delicious!

A revelation for people living with allergies! When I first discovered that I was lactose intolerant I had a crushing couple of weeks coming to terms with the wealth of favorite foods I could no longer cook - custard, pastry, lasagne, chocolate cake. When I then met a man with a wheat allergy I thought that all hope of dinners for two had just flown out the window. Luckily however, Grace Cheetham came to the rescue. The recipes are easy to follow and absolutely delicious - wonderful, vibrant dishes that are equally loved by friends who can eat wheat and dairy and those who can't. This is the book that brought apple crumble back into my life!

Although the recipes are gluten and dairy free, alot of the recipes have soy and /or eggs as a key ingredient (which sadly my son is allergic to). There are 99 recipes, of which 35 contain eggs and 22 contain soya. And I didn't expect to see a dairy free lasagna recipe that merely suggests to put soy chesse on top. I could have thought of that myself! Having said that, there are some really good recipes for a white sauce, bread, main dishes, and I'll certainly be dipping into the book frequently. If you're not allergic to soy / eggs, its worth a 4 star rating. If allergic to these additional ingredients, not many of the baking / desserts can be eaten.

This book is a must for anyone who is gluten- or dairy-intolerant. In fact, there are many people who, like me, are allergic to dairy products but who are either unaware of their allergies or who fail to make that link. If you find you have a runny nose or produce gloopy phlegm after drinking milk or eating cheese, you should give this book a try. With Grace Cheetham's recipies, you won't feel left out or deprived. I thoroughly recommend it.

I bought this book shortly after being diagnosed as a Coeliac, I'm also lactose intolerate but have always been able to manage with baking with this on its own. The whole gluten free baking really threw me a curved ball and I went from being a relatively good baker to not being able to do anything. This book has some odd and unusual ingredients to replace wheat flour but I was surprised that the local health food shop and Holland & Barratt were able to accommodate these without too much expense. Its been a really good reassurance book with recipes that work and are easy to follow, just don't be put off by the ingredients because they really are easy to find if you look in the right places.

This reviewer is fortunate insofar as he has no (known) food allergy, so one can enjoy as much food as one's waistline will tolerate, yet it must be terrible to have a certain allergy and see perhaps a favourite food becoming out-of-bounds.

This book's author has been through this problem and got the metaphorical t-shirt yet did not give up. After being diagnosed with intolerances it took a time before her previously good relationship with food could return, researching and developing new tolerant-friendly versions of classics and favourites in the process. And now with this book there are interesting gluten-free and dairy-free recipes for all possible mealtimes. Keeping things simple, easy-to-make, engaging and health-friendly are key cornerstones for the recipes.

A book of this kind could be a little goldmine and saviour for someone who has an intolerance and for a host who has to figure out a new and possibly unknown way of cooking for a future guest this could literally be a lifesaver, for both parties. If you had ripped the cover and introductory text off this book you might not even realise that it is not a "normal" cookbook. That is a great testimony to the book's design, contents and great range of recipes.

The book is split into key chapters, starting with various "basics" before covering breakfasts, lunches, baked treats, dinners and desserts. The accompanying text was generally interesting, informal and helpful rather than being a moan-fest and encouraging "victimhood". What must be the greatest testament to this book (or to the reviewer's over-inflated sense of self-importance?) is that there are many recipes here that one is encouraged to try "as is" despite not having any known food intolerance.
