I was looking for a pair of 1940's style wide leg trousers and found this retro pattern from Simplicity. Amazon had the best price and the pattern was here in 2 days. Not I only need to find the time to make it - it is exactly what I was looking for.

After the confusion of purchasing the wrong size pattern, I needed BB, I found this pattern very easy to use. This was my first sewing project & I now have a wearable pair of trousers.

classic style 14 Nov. 2012

A versatile pattern that's still stylish today. The slacks are rather high-waisted. But I like the fact that the blouse doesn't have any buttonholes, the skirt has plenty of room for movement, and the jacket is classic-three-button blazer style with simple outside pockets. Softly rounded lapels give the jacket a gentle femininity. I'm making a silver blouse to go with a black velvet long skirt for the holidays, plus a grey tweed wool blazer to go with jeans. I'll be making the skirt in plaid wool to go with a turtleneck top. Three outfits completed - closet problem solved.

Complicated? Yes. Complex? If you want it to be. 1 Oct. 2014

I love this pattern. It is complex, probably best suited to those whose sewing skill is intermediate, or perhaps advanced beginner, or above. The jacket has upwards of 20 pieces and requires 29 steps to complete.

I have made the jacket and the pants in a lightweight and middle-weight fabric, rayon/linen and suiting respectively. I also made a jacket and skirt from quilting backing, lengthening the skirt to the floor. Haven't tried the blouse, the simplest of the four garments in the pattern.

Something different 26 Dec. 2012

An inspiration suit for those who love the classics.
I can't wait to get the time (and the right fabric, of course) to make this vintage inspired delight.
