Product Description

Product Description

Aleksandr Orlov has in the last year become one of the most loved figures in British culture and his catchphrase – Simples! – can be heard from the playground to the office. Written in his inimitable voice (as dictated to his sidekick Sergei), his autobiography will offer the same humour as his TV ads, giving us the full story of his ancestor’s Journey of Courageousness from the Kalahari to Russia, the low-down on his life as entrepreneur and founder of comparethemeerkat.com and his love of grubs and cravats.

"My name is Aleksandr Orlov. I live and make work in Moscow. I have a success business. I have a mansion decorate with many fine things. I have a naturally majestic posture. But I would have none of these things if it were not for my family. This book is dedicated to them. I also wish to inspire next generation of young businesskats. I am hope that this book will show what can come of courage, hard work and a good fur-care regime. I am also hope that with royalties I will be able to re-marble roof on Orlov family mansion"

This edition comes with one of three beautiful A3 film posters for The Journey of Courageousness, The Battle of Fearlessness or The Streets of Ambitiousness. Poster selection is random.

Absolutely Brilliant 29 Oct 2010

I am a huge fan of the adverts and so I just had to get this book as an early Christmas present for myself. I know I have now read it, but I still haven't touched the chocolate that I also got for myself, which will remain unopened until Christmas Day.

Aleksandr Orlov in his inimitable style takes us back in time to his ancestors in the Kalahari Desert and why they had to leave; their journey to Russia, their war against Mongis Khan and his Mongoose Horde, and on to starting up the comparethemeerkat company. Aleksandr's family have definitely been through bad times as well as the good, and the start of the company initially semed like it would flop.

Aleksandr then tells us about his life, and you soon see why he is the world's most loved Russian oligarch. A tale of love, heroism and entrepeneurialship there is much here to make you laugh and weep. A story of our times, Aleksandr shows how to make it in today's world. What will be next for him? I have heard rumours that he will be taking over the hit show 'The Apprentice'. This book is full of illustrations, mainly photos, but also the ground plans of his mansion.

This book is bound to be appearing in many a persons Christmas stocking this year so make sure that people know you want it, or buy it now.

Having read all of the negative reviews of this book I couldn't help but think that those people were taking this book far too seriously. Seeing how much of a popular icon Aleksandr Orlov was, it was only natural for his creators to look for ways to branch out and cash in on any other possible success they could harbour, wouldn't any smart businessman?
Point aside, this book is very entertaining. It's written in the grammatical style of Aleksandr (it'll have you speaking along with it in your head to his accent, trust me!) and peppered with humour of all kinds, at least one of which is bound to suit your taste. As well as this the book also features images that won't fail to make you laugh as well, so overall there's a wide variety of things in the book to keep you reading if they don't keep you laughing as well.
My personal experience with this book was once of complete enjoyment, my friends all loved it as well when I showed them it, and I'd highly recommend others to buy it because, for the price it is, it's fantastic value.

It is lovely to read something that makes you laugh out loud (but not on public transport - ask me how I know). A very cleverly written book and the illustrations are great. A treat for all fans of Aleksander and Sergei.
