Product Description

Since her teenage years, CHUNG Chun-Tao has worked as an amah -- a servant -- for the Leung family. Known as Ah Tao, she witnessed every aspect of the family's life. Now, after 60 years of service, she is looking after Roger, who works in the film industry and is the only member of the family still resident in Hong Kong. One day Roger comes home from work to find that Ah Tao has suffered a stroke. He rushes her to hospital, where she announces that she wants to quit her job and move into a nursing home. Giving ever more time and attention to Ah Tao's needs and pleasures, Roger comes to realise how much she means to him. Roger's mother visits from California and suggests reclaiming an apartment building the family owns to provide Ah Tao with a final home of her own. But Ah Tao's health begins to deteriorate rapidly ...

5.0 out of 5 stars A simple, wonderful film. 13 Nov 2012
Format:Blu-ray
For some reasons, oriental movie-makers have te secret of making simple movies that are powerful and moving, just because, in their simplicity, they reach the very depths of our heart. Full of movie stars, nonetheless utterly unpretentious, it presents simple facts in the simplest, crystal clear, most touching, moving way. A deep human experience in movie form. I hope this UK edition includes the extras of the Hong-Kong edition I just watched, because the "no regrets" documentary, in which cast members reflect on old age, illness, death and the human condition is also beautiful. Don't miss is if you think that cinema is more than pop corn and car chases; if you think that art, in general, has something to say about us, human beings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie 29 April 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
This movie is great it has two great Hong Kong Actor/Actress, Andy Lau who stared in "House of Flying Daggers", " Infernal Affairs" and Deanie Ip who stared in the Hong Kong cult classic "Spiritual Love" and "Carry On Pickpocket". This film is not a action film so some people might be disappointed. The story is about Roger (Andy Lau) who has to put his maid Chung Chun To (Deanie Ip) into a care home. I was surprise at just how good this movie was considering a lot of the movie is just talking but with 33 Awards you cant go wrong with this movie.
