I stumbled on Andy Yorke supporting Frank Turner a couple of months ago in Winchester and bought this album on a whim, vaguely recalling some promising moments in his short set. Several plays of this CD later and I am gobsmacked. This is truly beautiful music. Every song stands alone. Each lyrically perfect, and wonderfully performed.

After reading that back it seems to be a rather hyperbolated passage. But that's exactly how this album comes across. "Twist of the Knife" is the standout track. As haunting as it is beautiful. Other highlights include "Rise and Fall" (the single), "One in a Million" and "Lay Down". Saying this, none of them could be classed as filler.

Buy this album. Everyone deserves to hear it.

Saw brother Thom Yorke on TV recently & remembered he had a brother who was in The Unbelievable Truth whose voice I preferred. Wondered what he was up to so looked him up on-line and found he had released 'Simple' in 2008. Sampled the tracks, ordered the CD and am absolutely thrilled with it. His singing voice is even better than I remembered and is such a pleasure to listen to. It's not a background CD for doing the housework to as you want to sit and actually listen to it as it's so beautiful. Take time out, relax and enjoy! Stunning.

A shame that this is not played here. 6 Sep 2008

Andy is, believe it or not, the more talented of the Yorke brothers. I loved The Unbelieveable Truth, and eagerly awaited his solo CD, which had been sampled on his website. He is an excellent songwriter and singer. Unfortunately, he's unheard of in the US. I had to buy my copy via Caiman, and I'm glad they offered it. This is beautiful music, played with feeling. It's as good as modern Brit Music gets - highly recommended.
A solid pop album. 11 Oct 2012

Nothing mind blowing on this set,but a very listenable album altogether. Strongest tracks include Simple and One In A Million. Definitely worth a listen if you're willing to forego any comparisons to Thom.

What?? 24 Mar 2009

More talented than Thom Yorke? You got to be kidding me. His music isn't too bad but not much different than anything else you'll hear from the UK, which isn't a bad thing since it's better than most stuff here. I'd say it's about average.
