Educational? Afraid not. Cute as all get out? You bet! This product is not available in the U.S. and these were backordered before Christmas. But Amazon, as always, somehow got this thing to me almost a month before they had predicted (and coming to the U.S. from the U.K. no less!) and got it here in time to give to my sister for Christmas. And the only reason she got it was because I am a very good sister and didn't keep it for myself - it's cute enough just by itself, but when you add in the sound effects it makes...it will kill you with cuteness!

This is THE toy for Simon's cat fans, it's just so soft and cuddly, that familiar expression and the little sounds are a nice addition, I was expecting a bit more but it seems to only make two sounds. Very well done, but not really for young kids as it's pristine white and not washable! Looks incredibly cute within my soft toys cats collection :)

very pleased to recieve an email about simons cat as my husband is a great fan of the cartoon character as it his birthday soon was very pleased to recieve cat in time for that great quality soft toy for the price and the sound effects are excellent my real cats are very intrigued by the sound effects
