Book Description

30 April 2011
THE POP MOGUL Simon Cowell as you've never seen him before.

Here and in his own words, Cowell spills the beans on his superstar chums, including Madonna, Cheryl Cole and Piers 'Magnificent' Morgan - and not forgetting, of course, his secret passion for Angelina Jolie.

Gunned down by a fan, Cowell wakes up in hospital to find he's got no money, no home and no mates. Worse still, his face looks like it's been through a blender; a tough blow indeed for the vainest man in Britain.

Cowell is on a quest for fame and fortune. But will he ever be able to win back his elusive Mojo - The Sex Factor?

Review

The perfect backdrop for Coles to poke fun at the rich and famous. Satirical stuff-but very funny --The News of the World

Further praise for Coles 'A superbly crafted memoir.' --Daily Express

'A fast moving and playful spoof. The details are so slick and telling that they could almost have you fooled.' --The Mirror

'What a read! Every schoolboy's dream comes true in this deftly-written treatment of illicit romance. A triumph.' --Alexander McCall Smith

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sex-Factor - a what if parody 4 Aug 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Sex-Factor is a highly entertaining parody of the impresario Simon Cowell and fellow judges of various audition-based and reality TV shows. Bill Coles has created a fantasy where Cowell is penniless and having to start out from scratch. The 'voice' of Cowell is comedic in its vanity and bombast - like all good satire it is so close reality that you begin to believe the voice is authentic. The preposterous plot and the picaresque adventures therein add to the surreal quality of this novel - a great read - Coles's pace and pithy voicings of Cowell are punchy and persuasive. I found it compulsive reading and laughed out loud at certain moments - particularly when Cowell is humiliated yet again. It's a great antidote to Cowell-type programmes but would also appeal to those who enjoy them - Cowell is, after all, at his best when playing the villain (and relishing the role).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book With X Factor Written All Over It 12 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
Probably the only book where all you could hope to happen to Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan, and the usual suspects of celebrity mensa members, actually does! A tour de force of witty satire and spoof that will have you rolling in the aisles, or at least embarrassing yourself on the Tube as you guffaw through the fast-paced plot. Read and Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fan-tastic 30 April 2011
Format:Paperback
Coles once again delivers his own twisted and titillating expose on the inner machinations of one of Britain's most improbable figures. Funny, absurd and strangest of all, occasionally endearing,, this is a great read, particularly for those of us, like the author, who have been immersed in the tawdry world of tabloid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprisingly brilliant 21 April 2011
Format:Paperback
When I got this book I wasn't sure it was going to be up my street especially as I have always had a secret crush on Simon Cowell (no accounting for taste!) and I was slightly concerned about how he was going to be portrayed. However, feelings of protectiveness aside, I thought this book was brilliant, it gives you an insight into the possible foibles of well known celebrities and gives an amusing account of the lengths Simon, Piers and Co will go to remain both popular and rich! I really enjoyed this and almost didn't want it to end - I wonder whether Simon would go to these lengths in real life? (probably!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Still laughing now... 21 April 2011
Format:Paperback
Wasn't sure what I would be getting with this book and having read it I wonder if it has actually happened - whether I have gone crazy, the author or its the world and this book is the only sane part! But one thing is for certain and that is this book in utterly brilliant, in that I challenge anyone to read it and not laugh out loud at some point. It is the much need antidote to today's TV and the strangest thing is, and despite it being completely fictional, I ended up really quite liking Simon Cowell!
