If you intend using this measure more than once a year then don't buy it. I am a surveyor and these are described as surveyor's tapes. Most fibreglass surveyor's tapes break off at the end due to constant flicking of the end. With a quality tape this process takes about twelve months but with these Silverline tapes you will be lucky if you get twelve days. I ordered two on December 17th 2008 and both are now in the bin less than two months later. I know they are cheap but if you use them five or six times a day like I do then save your money and buy something better like a Fibar tape because these are not fit for purpose and shouldn't be sold. Better still get a Leica Disto II. My recommendation to Amazon is stop selling them and bin the existing stock.

The tape measure lasted less than two days out on site. Doesn't stand up to the job, handle popped off on the first day and tape twisted inside the mechanism. Only bought as back up for the Disto, now the back up is in the bin. Not good.

This tape does exactly what I bought it for - it is perfectly satisfactory for occasional setting out jobs, but I doubt it would stand site work, day in, day out, for very long. Like all things, if you want to use something professionally, buy professional equipment at professional equipment prices!
