We bought this after searching the net on how best to cut or drill through porcelain tiles. What a nightmare. After checking the reviews some ok some not too good I decided to purchase, especially as we were quoted £30 for a drill piece and £5 for every hole we required cutting at the local tile shop.
My husband and I are both reasonable at DIY but due to the difficulty of getting through porcelain tiles (those of you who have tried will understand) we checked out U Tube too and there were some handy videos there. That aside the information on the rear of the packaging told us exactly what we had viewed on U Tube.
To cut you do need to have a water sprayer available we used a garden pressured sprayer but I'm sure the little sprayers you get for wetting your hair would do ok too. These drills were a godsend and after cutting our first hole we were both glad that we hadn't went to the expense of the local shop. They cut thro cleanily if slowly but thats how they need to be cut anyways on the slowest drill speed you can.
If you are considering these then i'd say for the money they can't be beaten. For those professionals out there and non believers you'd be probable be right in saying they won't last as long as the more expensive drill pieces (we've manged 10 holes presently) but if you need them for the one room or job then I'd buy again.

The drill bit arrived well within the ETA and was well packaged. On first inspection the drill looked like it wasn't up to the job at hand, which was to make a hole in the base of a 15mm thick toilet cistern. Appearances can be deceptive, it made the hole with such remarkable ease it was incredible, particularly when you consider the price compared to some other drill bits. Let me break-down for you my successful hole drilling method:-

STEP 1: MAKE TEMPLATE, this will stop the drill from wandering, and can be made from any narrow board 6mm ply is ideal, with a hole the same size as the drill made in it.

STEP 2: STICK TEMPLATE TO ITEM, this can be done with double-sided tape depending on the texture of surface and will hold things in place while the drill beds-in, this only needs to be 1mm or 2mm and them the template can be removed, do not continue much more than this as the drill will over-heat.

STEP 3: CREATE WATER TROTH, this will keep the drill from over-heating when drilling, and can be done by creating a shallow troth around the bedded-in hole with blue tack or plastacine to which a small amount of water is added.

STEP 4: PROCEED DRILLING AT A SLOW RATE, relocate drill into bedded-in groove and drill at a slow rate, do not apply too much pressure to the drill it is not necessary despite the fact that you may feel that it is. Be patient and continue to drill at a slow rate and you should find that you've drill a near perfect hole.

Very reasonable price. ideal for the occasional DIY job, eg tile drilling, where longevity/ruggedness is not an issue. The absence of a pilot drill makes it difficult to keep the saw steady as it tends to jump. I got round this by using a piece of wood, predrilled to 32mm, as a guide. The hole saw I received had a small gap in the ring (which was not an issue as far as drilling the tile was concerned) so I have given it only 3 stars.

I bought this saw thinking as it was much cheaper than others it would take weeks to be delivered and/or would probably struggle to do the job but I was wrong. I received it in less than 2 weeks and have used it to drill several holes so far in 10mm thick porcelean tiles. Using a hand made plywood guide and frequent watering this hole saw works very well and soon cuts through.
