Had I still been teaching A level Physics, this purchase would have been the ideal demonstration of the difference between accuracy and precision. I bought four of them to monitor the temperature in different rooms. I inserted the AAA batteries in all four and left them together on the same kitchen unit for a day, with the outside sensors still close to the displays. In the same environment, close together, the readings varied between 17.9 degrees Celsius and 24.7 degrees Celsius. One thermometer gave an indoor reading of 24.1 degrees Celsius 'indoors' and 18.2 degrees Celsius 'outdoors'. The outdoor sensor was indoors, within 10cm of the main unit.
So, they have a precision of 0.1 degrees, but they are totally inaccurate. I would suggest that accuracy is in the region of (+/-) 4 degrees Celsius.
Like any temperature sensor, they will show a trend of temperature, but, as accurate thermometers, they are next to useless, indeed, hardly fit for purpose. It is a pity. They look very nice.
