Sound meter 23 Dec 2008
I'm not sure if this is exactly the same as the eponomous radio shack version, but it seems to be!

I used it to set up my home cinema accurately. The best thing is to use it to figure out your sub/sat crossover frequency correctly using this, and also to parametrically tune your sub so you get a flat smooth response all the way down. It will sound a lot lot better than any automatic system.

Oh and my one came with a new battery included despite it saying in the description above that it's not included. It was inside the unit (philips screwdriver needed to open). Just pointing out so it will save you a couple of pounds aaginst the already low price

well worth it 9 May 2011
Bought this sound level meter to balance the speakers on my onkyo home cinema system. The product is so easy to use all you have to do is set the weighting to c and select slow. Then i put on the test tone and turned up the volume to about three quarter and carried out the test on each individual speaker. The guage is easy to read all i done was set it to 80db and played with the speaker volume on my remote till it read -5 on the guage. You could set it at 70 and go +5 to get to 75. I thought my home cinema sounded pretty tasty but after balancing the speakers it sounds amazing. Even turned the crossover on the sub down to 80hz and it still packs a punch.Hope this review helps. Can't commend this product enough , great wee bit of kit.

cinema heaven 22 Jan 2011

Bought the meter after reading reviews. After already setting my speakers up using the supplied microphone with the amp (very happy) then used the meter and then I was over the moon the system now sounds better than ever. A fantastic buy.

good and inexpensive
I use this to balance 7.1 sound system with good results. There isn't a 75 db setting but it is easy to work up from 70 and/or down from 80 to check. Read more
