The product advertisement did not mention you needed two other items of kit ie core drill arbor and guide drill bit or it would be impossible to use.Fortunately the comments section did contain one critical review that mentioned this. Also each time I stopped drilling the main head unscrewed.I ended up buying another one in a local DIY shop that came as one unit for half the price.

I bought this to put a hole in for a cooker hood vent. It's not clear in the description, but you need to buy the arbour (which I did) and the guide drill (which I did not). Trying to get a 125mm drill started without a centre drill was a challenge. I ended up improvising.

Once started it's easy to use as the drill supports itself. The cup is not that deep so you need to stop and chisel out the centre if using for thick walls. Due to the large diameter, this bit needs a good drill to turn it.

The hole is now finished and the drill still looks like new.

Used the 40mm core drill to make a hole for dishwasher waste pipe. Took a long time to get through the brick but went through the breeze block very quickly. Probably better to go for the diamond core drill if you want to drill this size hole frequently but for a one off the TCT drill does the job and its cheap. By the way, 40mm (OD) pipes can be oversize so measure the pipe or go for the 42mm diamond core drill if in doubt.

Firstly I ordered late afternoon and arrived next day, fantastic super fast.
Great core drill which i used for brickwork.
Note: To a tradesman the following would be obvious so this is meant for the non-tradeperson

You will need an Arbor (sold seperately) which holds the guide drill bit with chamfered end (also sold seperately) which are all connected together.

You maybe aware of this and think not a problem, well unfortunately I ordered all 3 items which arrived seperately;
Core Drill - Next Day
Arbor - 1 week later
Guide drill bit - arrived 2 weeks later.

After eventually receiveing the arbor I went to screw fix and purchased the guide drill bit so I could carryout the job in question, as time was getting on (or in reality nagged to get the job done).

Please keep this in mind and would suggest purchasing each item from a different seller which I have found to resolve this delivery nightmare.

I needed to drill a 50mm x 30mm deep hole in brickwork, but didn't fancy paying £30-£40 for a 'professional quality' core drill.
I saw this 'Silverline' product on Amazon. and thought that I would give it a try - I was not at all optimistic, but at this price there was really nothing to lose.
I was amazed. It cut a beautifully smooth hole in just a few seconds, and there is no sign at all of any wear of the cutting teeth.
Dont forget, though, that you also need an arbour/pilot drill - but again, very cheap, and beautifully engineered.
I had never even heard of 'Silverline' before - superb products.

I've only used it to do 4 holes, in old red brick - but it cuts really quite well. I thought as long as it survived these four holes, then I'd be happy to throw it away - for £[] you can't expect much. But I'm happy to say it's still got life in it. It's not long enough to go through a brick in one go - you have to stop, take it out, hammer out the piece of brick left in the hole, then carry on - but it's dead easy to do so doesn't really create extra work.

Went, with little effort, through brickwork and produced nice clean hole, using a std electric drill. If you only need it for a couple of holes then good value for money compared to a diamond tipped type.

first it lost a 'tooth' then the front bit came loose from the arbour (also silverline the correct one for the core drill bit)-- the drill and arbour went round but the core drill didn't - total rubbish I ended up drilling a series of holes and using a bolster to make a nice messy hole that involved me in a lot of extra work. I know I should have sent it back but couldn't be bothered with the hassle.
