Shocked. 14 Feb 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I only gave it 2 stars because of how quick the delivery was, other wise I would have given one star. I used the screwdriver to unscrew the little screws on the back of my macbook and on the 4th screw, the screwdriver chipped right off, while I was unscrewing!! I can understand it occurring while screwing, it being a delicate size etc.. and if force is used, it could cause it to distort, but 1) I was UNSCREWING, how could this cause any harm to the screwdriver? Simply the tightness of the screw on the macbook caused it? On the 4th screw I have ever used the screwdriver on? 2) It didn't just distort, a little piece broke right off the screwdriver, making it completely useless.. I may be able to file it down or something but these should not be on the market.. Unless it was just a fault on this one.. I wouldn't chance it again.

I bought this tool kit and I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived by the very nice packaging.

I immediately tried the two tools I bought it for. The iPhone 4 and MacBook Air opening pentalobe drivers.

The iPhone 4 one seemed to work ok. I just loosened a screw and tightened it back up.

But the MacBook Air one, which is the one I really needed to get hold of because one of the screws seems to be a tad loose from the factory and just needed torquing a bit. I tried to loosen the screw first. And then tightened it very gently. The driver bent it's head into a corkscrew shape. I was really gentle. You definitely couldn't take all 10 MacBook Air screws off and if you did, you wouldn't get them back on again!! I'm not even going to try, I didn't want to do that anyway. I just wanted to have the ability to!

The rest of the kit looks ok. And I'm inclined to keep it for the spudgers and allen keys. But the purpose of the kit, to open a MacBook Air or iPhone 4 is pretty wide of the mark.

Please don't make tools out of butter / chocolate or other bendy substances. Useless.

The toolkit had only 14 pieces instead of the 15 pieces mentioned...there was a missing pry bar! So I had to return it. I was quite shocked that the seller did not even bother to check the count before sending. But otherwise the tools looked OK to me, they would serve the purpose of a Laptop upgrade...in my case I wanted it for a Hard disk upgrade for my MBP. I had to meet my objective using other tools later. I would say this had been my only disappointing purchase from Amazon till date.
