Review

'Very disturbing, gripping, and ultimately uplifting.. a wholly satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.' (Philip Ardagh LOOK AT A BOOK (The Guardian) )

Book Description

The third and final volume in the SILVER SEQUENCE: the confrontation between good and evil in Coldharbour.

Product Description

The Roar is getting closer and closer to the earth, ready to attack, her hungry newborn in the waiting. Alongside the silver child Milo, who is hovering protectively over them, Helen, Thomas, Walter, the twins and litte Jenny lead the children of Coldharbour in the battle against the Roar. Meanwhile, Carnac threatens from below, but the Unearthers, with drills for hands, stand ready for him. And the Protector under the oceans is on the children's side, bringing its wisdom and strength to bear on the battle. Cliff McNish brings the magical SILVER SEQUENCE to a thrilling conclusion in this atmospheric fantasy.

From the Inside Flap

Millions huddle in Coldharbour, waiting for the huge and terrifying Roar. Milo, the silver child, is the first line of the Earth's defence. Under his wings, Helen probes the Roar's mind, while the twins, Emily and Freda, struggle to free the mysterious Protector. Walter's task is the hardest of all - keeping the others alive for long enough to find a weapon to defeat the Roar. Only Thomas can release that weapon - if he can finally discover the true purpose of his remarkable gift. But a second enemy is also ranged against them. As the Roar approaches from space, her firstborn, Carnac, is crawling from the depths of the Earth. Only a small number of children, the drill-handed Unearthers, led by Tanni, stand in his way. The Silver Sequence is brought to a thrilling conclusion in this third and final book, which is at once exhilarating and atmospheric - fantasy writing at its most satisfying. Cliff McNish is the author of the highly successful Doomspell trilogy. The Doomspell, The Scent of Magic and The Wizard's Promise won him an avid readership instantly, and he was hailed as a 'great new voice in writing for children' (The Bookseller). The trilogy has been published in eighteen languages around the world. Cliff was born in Sunderland in north-east England. He enjoys playing golf, walking up mountains and eating as much hot and spicy food as possible. He is married and has a teenage daughter, Rachel.

'McNish has an extraordinary, inventive mind, matched by his skill in translating ideas, characters and raw emotions onto the page. Very disturbing, gripping, and ultimately uplifting, Silver World offers a wholly satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. Not for the faint-hearted, McNish takes the reader into uncharted territory, manipulating language in the most extraordinary way.' About the Author

Cliff McNish was born in Sunderland, but has spent most of his life in the southeast of England. His daughter Rachel loved listening to his stories from an early age. THE DOOMSPELL started as one of these. 'But before I knew what was happening,' says Cliff, 'the whole magical world of Ithrea just wanted to come to life in a bigger way. It wanted to live!' Geoff Taylor was born in Lancaster, England in 1946. He studied Graphic Design at Chesterfield College of Art. After five years or so of working in advertising agencies in Nottingham, Geoff turned to illustrating book covers for most of the top fantasy writers of our time, both adult and children's fiction. Geoff was one of the illustrators for the legendary Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of "The War of the Worlds" album. Since 1994 he has added to some of the rich imagery of "Games Workshop" and the Black Library. Perhaps his true passions are best reflected in his wildlife paintings, especially wolves. He now lives in Cumbria with his wife. Find out more from his website www.geofftaylor.btinternet.co.uk.
