I was lent this by a friend who wanted me to understand that comics could carry emotion and deal with real life issues.

This collection of 4 comics in a mini-series called 'Silver Surfer - Requiem' is a standalone series that doesn't affect or interact with any other marvel series, including the Silver Surfer in anyway.

Because of this it has its ups and downs, but has made it possible to look at what life in the marvel universe is like when one of the classic super hero figures, the Silver Surfer who faces the reality that he is mortal and his life will soon end.

It interacts with a few other classic Marvel characters such as the Fantastic Four team and Spider-Man, these characters are portrayed well, Mr. Fantastic with his logical and scientific attitude and the typical Spider-Man banter that we have all come to love and expect!

The art work is incredible and the narrative is exceptional, a great collection dealing with a situation we will all one day face, death.

A must read for anyone wanting to be sucked into a comic that will capture the heart and make you think!

What a surprise! I heard Requiem was good, but it exceeded my expectations. Dramatic, touching and profound... magnificently well written and beautifully drawn. I couldn't avoid the tears. Something that wouldn't work in any other media but in comic book format. Highly recommended. Silver Surfer - Requiem shows me why I love comics.

Frankly I found this an amazing comic book. It's art is astounding while the writing matches it pace for pace. I have never read any comics about the Silver Surfer before but found this an interesting portayal not just of the title character but the very universe he inhabits. It includes cameos from some of my favourite characters and made me look at galactus in a whole new way. My one complaint would be how directly it steers you emotionally however this is in fitting with the story so not a major complaint. An excellent comic for anyone (don't be surprised if you tear up).

A tale of the life of the Silver surfer. It's a stand alone tale which charts the life of the surfer as he relects upon the people he has encountered including those on earth. He travels the galaxy, helps to put an end to a galactic war, and tries to right a few wrongs along the way. As always Esad Ribic pulls out all stops to provide breathtaking artwork which is worthy of your money alone. However the writing of Strazinski is rather touching and helps to add character to one of Marvel's more mysterious characters.

To be honest, I found the Marvel knight series rather boring except for two series. Spiderman: reign and this story, Silver Surfer: Requiem.
The story is beautiful, this unnapreciated character is shown to his full potential in this story.
I always found that silver surfer was a reccessive character, always the extra character in fantastic stories and spiderman. I love the fact that his full potential shows in this story in aspects such as the power cosmic. Something which I think anyone can read.
