If their debut album is anything to go by, Silver Sun are four casually misogynistic serial masturbators with a profound debt to the Beach Boys and a fine line in sun-flecked power-pop. That's to do a disservice to them, however, because ignore the frequent references to "dumb bitches" and frontman James Broad's admission on "Bad Haircut" that he's "sitting on the toilet waiting to come", and Silver Sun is a whole lot of fun. In fact, geek rock seldom comes with the flagrant hyperbole of "Lava", which rather thankfully shelters its musings on the smell of young girl's bedrooms (true, unfortunately) under two-and-a-half minutes of excitable scissor-kicking and about 12 choruses piled gloriously on top of one other. Evidence that if Silver Sun could learn to, y'know, talk to 50 per cent of the world's population, then perhaps the geeks could inherit the earth. --Louis Pattison

What a fantastic experience! From start to finish this album never fails to entertain - Top tunes, great harmonies, I am still giving this regular plays nearly three years after buying it. Bought it from hearing 'Service' on a free CD from Q magazine, and on reflection this is one of the lesser (though still excellent!) tracks. The gaps between songs are shortened so that the tracks merge into one long session of listening pleasure. I was surprised to hear that these guys are English. But they are. So there- Buy now.

Perfect guitar-pop. The Beach Boys with loud guitars. The songs are fantastic, very catchy tunes and interesting arrangements. The lyrics are so obscure that you can listen to them hundreds of times without figuring out the song meaning. Stacked full of invented euphemisms and double-entendres, once you work out one of them you can unravel most of the rest (they are mostly about teenage 'issues'). It is criminal that bands like McFly and Busted got all the popularity when Silver Sun produced stuff not a million miles away in style (and several years before those boybands), but a million times better.
If you like just one song by Silver Sun (even that cover version, or just something by those boybands mentioned above) then you will like everything on this album.

The marvellous Silver Sun, unfortunately, haven't done anything for about 4 and a half years now, but the fact that you can still go back to this absolute gem of an album makes up for it a little bit.
To describe their sound...think Weezer, but happier...and not quite as heavy. It's not easy to describe them without gushing...
Oh well. This album just represents power-pop perfection. There's not a single duff track on here, but if I had to pick stand-outs, I would go for 'Dumb', 'Lava' and 'Wonderful'.
Please buy a few copies and help fund the impending new album. Come on, you KNOW you want to!
