Product Description

Silver Snakes is an anthology of four short stories by Christian Dabnor:

Silver Snakes, a slipstream love story, appears in three distinct narrative forms, each exploring the key theme of the story - memory.
Captain Smith and the Numbers Game - The marketing department are unsatisfied with sales of ace fighter pilot Captain Smith's merchandise and take drastic action.
The Folly - A shy, unextraordinary woman finds herself unexpectedly the focus of a charming young man, who extends to her a terrifying, but inevitable sounding proposition.
The Expendable Mr.Skimble - Unknowingly, Mr.Skimble has been living a lie, victim of a gross, and politically embarassing, bureaucratic error.

More About the Author

Chris Dabnor is a writer and part time literature student, currently living in Cannock, in the United Kingdom, where he works as a software support analyst. His previous short stories have been featured in such magazines as Astonishing Adventures, Twisted Tongue and White Chimney, and cover a range of subjects between Victorian time travelling dinosaurs, film noir ghosts and the psychopathically insecure. He is currently working on his second novel. Any hint of sombre fatalism in his stories is most likely attributed to his being an avid Wolverhampton Wanderers fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great short stories by an up-and-coming young author 18 July 2011
By J. Renaud - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Chris Dabnor, who published many stories in the late great magazine "Dark Valentine," is a talented young author with a sensibility that is both very cyberpunk and intensely British. You might not think the two go together, but they do; the showpiece of this ebook is the triple-faced "Silver Snakes" story, which is told from three perspectives. It is a deeply personal, lyrical and romantic story, similar (but not too similar) to "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." "Snakes" will definitely stick in your mind, making you wonder if the fate of the protagonists is a blessing or a curse.

There are other great stories in this collection, including the darkly humorous wartime story, "Captain Smith and the Numbers Game," the dystopian "The Expendable Mr. Skimble," and the equally dark and murderous flash fiction short, "The Folly." My only problem is that I wish it were longer. Yet all in all, it's a very solid little collection, and well worth your money. Recommended.
