What a beautiful book this is, particularly special to me as I live in the area depicted here.
The 'Silver River' of the title is the River Tamar, which divides Cornwall from the rest of England.
The vivid and evocative paintings by local artist Mary Martin give so much more depth and meaning to the essays written by her sister, Virginia Spiers, originally produced in the Guardian newspaper and describing the character, environment and history of the Tamar Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
I highly recommend 'Silver River' as a stunning book which will be picked up time after time to read or to simply admire the wonderful art on every page.
