I've always thought Cliff did his best work in the 80's, and though this isn't quite up to the pop gem standards of I'm No Hero or Wired For Sound, it's still worthy. It is a very synthy, 80's sounding album, which could put some people off. You almost expect Howard Jones to turn up in the likes of Front Page and Locked Inside Your Prison! However, in the best stuff, like the classic Ocean Deep, Please Don't Fall In Love and The Golden Days Are Over, Cliff is truly at his best. Never mind the catchy but ludicrous Baby You're Dynamite, which S Club Juniors would probably reject on the grounds of it's immaturity, there's something for everyone here. He goes funky on Never Say Die and the rocky Love Stealer could be the Glitter Band! But somehow, it all sounds comfortably Cliff. Like his old TV chum, Olivia Newton-John, he's a bit unconvincing with the sexy stuff, like it's beneath him, but he's surely the best pop singer England has yet produced.
