i do a lot of walking for exercise and over recent years have taken part in a number of walking challenges in work. we have used many different pedometers over the years and all agree that the silva pedometers are by far the most accurate we have ever used. they are also more compact than others so can be hidden under tops.
the clasp is also very strong and generally grips well to waistbands. however i have on occasions had to fish mine out of the toilet. the new models come with safety landyards that are supposed to help secure them better thus saving you from the hand down the toilet experience.
overall a very good pedometer worth paying a bit more for.

Don't you just love it when the product you've bought does exactly what it says on the box? This step counter is compact, easy to use and does the job it was purchased to do, ie it counts steps. There are no fancy bells and whistes, no all singing and dancing features to confuse and bemuse. Just clip it on to your belt and get walking and, when you've finished, you'll have an accurate record of the steps you've taken. Highly recommended.

After using this pedometer for a couple of days I threw all my old ones out. This item is simple to use, accurate (filters out minor body movements) and does not reset on its own accord (need to press and hold both buttons to reset).

This is a very compact step counter. I have had a similar item clipped into my wallet (which I keep in my trouser pocket) for the last 6 years, but it got a bit hot in India recently (40 deg C outside) and is not what it was: although still working the front window got detached and despite efforts to glue it back I gave up. As I needed a replacement I sought this type out again because others are mostly bigger and I was very pleased with it.

In the six years I had its predecessor I never used the distance counting features - which rely on setting step length - I only looked at the steps each day and reset it for the next. So why pay for what I don't need? Monitoring steps is the main aspect of monitoring activity for the non-sporty and very revealing it is too.

The new one came with a spare battery - the last one only needed one new battery in 6 years - and an optional lanyard (as stated I prefer the clip).

Strongly recommended - just beware hot countries when it is old! Still 5 stars though.

This is much smaller than I expected and clips securely (well it hasn't fallen off yet!) onto a waistband. It is unobtrusive and seems to be accurate. However, I work in a very quiet office and the pendulum which ticks with every step I take is more than a little irritating. Not recommended for librarians, exam invigilators or parents trying to walk their newborns to sleep!

This step counter only counts steps, so it is easy to operate - the only thing you do it ot reset it.

However, when it's on your belt or waistband, it must be rigidly held upright on there to work. With some of my clothes, the waistband was not rigid enough to hold it upright, and it wouldn't count steps. So I haven't found this device as useful as I hoped.

I bought this step counter on the back of the good reviews, but like some other reviewers, I am very disappointed. The counter sometimes just won't register steps, sometimes registers appropriate numbers and then the next day comes up with 1/2 the steps for the same walk!
